in reply to: My Hickory Long bow is finally done #52691I think it is very nice. I have never tried to build a bow, but I know a lot of work goes into it, and probably a part of the bowyer as well. Good job.
in reply to: My Hickory Long bow is finally done #52628Hi Todd. Glad to hear you will have a bow for the upcoming season. The instructions for posting photos is in the Campfire Forum or you can use this link to the FAQ section that explains it. Looking forward to seeing the new bow.
in reply to: Ultra-EFOC Barely Above The Heavy Bone Threshold #51328I have posted the next update. You can read it here.
Ed, I am glad to see you back on the forum. Hope all goes well with the tests and such. We are all pulling for ya. π
in reply to: Howard Hill Tembo Very Disappointing #48178Threatening to pull this threadβ¦
Byron Ferguson is a very nice guy, but maybe Chris didn’t hit it off with him. All he said was he “didn’t care for them”. Oddly enough, there are people who don’t like guys that publish or write for Traditional Bowhunter. π― I guess we’ll never know if Fred liked Howard since we can’t talk to Fred or Howard. That isn’t the subject of the post.
Let’s keep this to the discussion at hand. Some of the scenes in Tembo were staged. Right or wrong, that’s the way they did it back then. Comments on topic are welcome, personal attacks from any side are not.
in reply to: Who makes a good pair of pants these days??? #44362Dave, I’m curious now…why do you buy them too big, and how much too big? π Knowing how you hunt I’d imagine you lose weight before you gain it hunting. Maybe you wear all your pants at once so you don’t have to carry them in your pack. π
in reply to: Interview with Dave Peterson #43682Treetopflier wrote: Well I just tried to read it and it ends mid-sentence with a fair amount not posted. I’m sure Robin will get that fixed soon, now that she’s aware of it.
It has been fixed. Sorry for the technical difficulties. π³
in reply to: Interview with Dave Peterson #43259I have just posted the full interview. It is called The Good Hunter and it is available to anyone at our site, under the Feature Article banner. I really enjoyed working on this piece and I hope you all enjoy reading it.
in reply to: Stalk in these? #395173blades wrote: Will do Robin and hope I didn’t overstep my bounds with the link. π³ About the free shoes is I thought I would just throw the line in and see if I got a bite. π
Not at all! And I didn’t mean to come across that way. I really did find the shoes interesting, and it’s good to hear from folks who use them and folks who use something else. π Keep sharing with your friends here and I’ll stay out of the way. π
in reply to: Nugent gets karma-lized! #38786I will let this thread continue but I will not tolerate any personal attacks. If you disagree with King or David Petersen, please do so in a mature fashion.
I reserve the right to delete this entire thread with no explanation if I feel it is getting out of hand. Don’t make me pull the Mom card! π
in reply to: Stalk in these? #38769I am curious to hear how those shoes work for hunting, but if we start bankrolling for shoes it would never end. π― Subscription rates would increase considerably!
I do like the idea of shopping with our advertisers. Carl Dyer has been with us since the beginning. Several other moccasin makers advertise in TBM, as well as boot makers. They would sure appreciate you taking a look at their stuff too.
in reply to: how do you … #37723Hi 1/2,
You need to have a free account at an online photo storage site. I would suggest you use Photobucket. The instructions are here: http://www.tradbow.com/public/235.cfm#photobucket
I am happy to upload the photo for you and send you a link to put in your forum post. Email the photo to me at webmaster@tradbow.com.
in reply to: anatomy and archery… #30640A couple of suggestions:
Have her move her back foot to the right (assuming she is right handed) so she is not 90 degrees to the target. Also, lean into the shot with her bow arm bent slightly and the elbow pointed out, not down, don’t lock the elbow.
They also make sports bras and breast protectors if you want to go that route. You might try an online search or a sporting goods store.
G. Fred Asbell’s book Instinctive Shooting is also a great reference. You can find it at most of the traditional suppliers who advertise in TBM.
in reply to: DIY Beaver tail armguard? #24514Wildschwein wrote: I currently have a Beaver tail in my freezer that I would like to make into an armguard. Anybody here know how to do a home tan job, or have any links to the information?
If you can wait until the next issue of TBM comes out, Krista Holbrook has an article on making a beaver tail handle. She explains how to prepare the tail.
Oct/Nov will be available to Premium Members August 15th, the same day it will be mailed to subscribers. If you are a newsstand shopper it will be in the stores around September 10th, give or take a week. π
