in reply to: Building up to heavy draw weight #59307
Don Thomas wrote an article in the Apr/May 2003 issue, Gearing Up For Heavy Bows. If you don’t have that issue, (it is no longer available in print, but Premium Members can access it on Tradbow.com) let me know and I’ll see if I can send you a copy of the article.
Is there enough interest from the rest of you for me to post it as an article for everyone to read?

in reply to: Digital Issue #50471Hi Dave. Thanks for giving this a try, but I’m sorry you went to so much work . It is not necessary to print every page to a pdf, as there is a full pdf file in the Download Library. Try the Dec/Jan 11 issue, the link is in my previous post. This is now available to Premium Members for every issue since Feb/Mar 11.
As far as printing from the online digital issue (not the ebook/pdf version above), the idea was to allow printing of an article or two. If you need to print the whole thing, it is probably better to have a print subscription and have the magazine mailed to your house. Because these files are for web/screen they sure don’t look very good when you print them. 😳
The online digital issue will now work on an iPad using the Safari browser (as opposed to the book reader), but I’m not happy with it. 🙄 The pages are slow to load, and I forget what I read by the time the next page loads. 😯 I personally prefer the pdf/book reader version on my iPad. It still doesn’t work on any other mobile devices, like phones or blackberrys. I don’t have a Nook or Kindle, so these experiments, comments and questions will help me make this work for most members.
Thanks,

The riser Is I believe Myrtle wood. Its so pretty I strung it up and shot a couple dozen arrows through it then unstrung and hung it on my home office wall. It shoots really sweet draws very nice depsite its poundage. I couldn’t bear to beat it up shooting it all the time. I’m looking for another that’s not so nice to use as a shooter but it took me years to find this one so it could be a long search.

in reply to: Righthanded/ left eye dominate #43639Hello Thorr40. Welcome to the site and a big THANK YOU for your service to our country.
If your daughter is just learning to shoot, it should be fairly easy to teach her to shoot left handed—-much easier than trying to change to left handed later. It will be a lot more fun for her if she can hit the target consistently. Just make sure the bow weight is really light to start with.
Good luck. 😀

Here are the instructions for Posting Pictures in the Forums. You can also email them to me at webmaster@tradbow.com and I’ll post them “just now.” That could be anywhere from two minutes to two days 😆 it just depends on where I’m at when you email them to me.
in reply to: Bear Kodiak Hunter #42891Hi mommabear. I’m sure someone will chime in soon. I just want to welcome you to the forum. If you have any questions about the site just send me an email. Have fun!
in reply to: Tapered Sitka Spruce Shafts #42566Homer wrote: Why don’t you share your source for shafts here?
It is okay to share a great experience with a supplier/bowyer or an interesting find, I just don’t want blatant, “infomercial” type posts. Derek, you are doing a fine job of following that rule, so please share your source if you want to.
I realize the line isn’t very clear. Many forum members have archery related businesses and “commercial” posts are frowned upon, except by advertisers who pay to be on our site. It is okay, however, to put your web address in your profile to show others where they can find your products or blogs.
Didn’t mean to hijack your thread. 😀 Carry on about these great shafts.
in reply to: Remnants of the Hunt By Chris Libby #37581Let me see what I can do. 😀
in reply to: Bohning Paints #32616You are welcome, Derek. It was a great tip and you put a lot of work into helping others. Thanks for your time and effort.
in reply to: Bohning Paints #32607The rest of the story…
It appears that the fletch also glows, so I tested the following colors:
1 – Trueflight Lime Barred
2 – Trueflight Bright Yellow Orange Barred
3 – Trueflight Orange
4 – Trueflight Lime
5 – AMG Lime
6 – AMG Orange
7 – AMG Hot Pink
8 – AMG Flo Yellow
From the testing shown above, the Trueflight Lime, AMG Lime, AMG Orange and AMG Flo Yellow all show up well under the blue light, so the cresting paint isn’t required, but it does help.
in reply to: recommendations for a recurve #31861Hi Nemoshooter, and welcome to the site! I’m sure someone more knowledgable than I will chime in, but they also need your draw length to estimate arrow spine. We did an excerpt from T.J.’s book, The Traditional Bowhunter’s Handbook, about Wood Arrow Spine if that helps at all. You might also search the older forum posts. This has been discussed in the past. If you need any help, just send me an email or PM.
in reply to: New To The Site #31855Hi Don, welcome aboard! If you have any questions about how things work here, feel free to ask me any time.
As far as topics about traditional bowhunting…the folks on this forum are helpful and friendly. Have fun!
in reply to: Browning Cobra Recurve History #31547Hi Walker. Welcome to the site. You might try a Private Message (PM) to White Oak about this bow, just in case he doesn’t see your post. Maybe some other folks will also chime in. Good luck on your search.
in reply to: Private Messages #30433Well, the best I can do is ask the person replying to your PM to use the “Quote Reply” link. You might also remind them when you write the PM. I cannot find a setting that will do this automatically. If anyone has questions, please post them here.
Thanks,
Robin
