Sounds like the Ashby head is the ultimate broadhead. It is a screw in head, however. I need 425 gr up front with my 3555 GT’s. With 100 gr brass inserts and the 315 gr Ashby head how can I get the other 10 gr?:?:

Which is the differance Left bevel or Right?

I just saw these El Grande Grizzly Broadheads and the Grizzly, good price for a 6 Pack BTW at 3Rivers.

            Thanks

If you have left wing feathers use the left bevel. If you have right wing feathers order the right bevel. The bevel makes the bh turn with or against the feathers during flight. Here is a link to an explanation. Abowyer tips

I agree with everything Bender said. Keep reading these threads and do search on tuning. The bow should have instructions regarding brace ht. Welcome to the site

There has to be someone who shoots a 55# longbow who has a set up with carbon arrows. This info should put you in the ball park. Someone will speak up.

with my 40# bow I need a 200 gr head with a 125 gr adapter and 100 gr brass insert. this limits my ability to use certain broadheads. I am going to order the 200 gr El Grande also. I have had this bow since 1965 and I am determined to shoot a deer with it. It is on my bucket list.:D

                    FYI
I took three 300 gr field tips and wrapped masking tape around them until they weighed 325 gr each. Then used them with the 100 gr brass inserts. They were still too stiff but I adjusted my brace ht down and this did the job. Brace ht is now 6 7/8 inches and arrow nock is 7/16 inches above center.

This allowed me to have the wt up front on the field tips. Yes I weighed the field tips after I shot. They still weight the same. I guess I waisted my money on the wpt weight system. :D. I am going to go with 200 gr grizzlies or Abowyer broad heads.

                      Happy Birthday Dave

I am 61 and the way you need to look at birthdays is the way I do. I am only one day older than I was yesterday. Hope to meet you in person one day. Thanks for being on this site.

I look forward to a Howard Hill day. I am still struggling with form. I like the idea of the blank bail shooting. I have heard of it but now I realize the value of it. I am way too inconsistent with form.

I loved the History special. I wonder if the longbow will become more popular. I shoot a recurve but I am putting a longbow on my wish list. Can’t wait to see Russell Crow as Robin. I have seen the Errol Flynn version about forty times now. I have loved that movie since I was very young. Made my first bow with a stick and string when I first saw that movie.

In the Ashby library section the Doc has an article entitled “Getting an Edge on Success”.

                                  7.4 gpi
                                  657 gr. overall wt.
30 7/16 inch arrows from nock groove to cut carbon
125 gr. Insert (15 grain insert plus 110 gr PDP wts.)
                                  300 grain field point
                                  31.93 % FOC

When I have good form they fly straight bare shafted from 15 yards. 😀
For hunting just need to use 100 gr brass inserts, 125 gr BH adapter and a 200 grain BH to have the same FOC and WT.
