in reply to: What Ya NOT Got Goin'? #7813
I have not been on the forums consistently for a very long time. Life keeps getting in the way.
in reply to: PTSD and Traditional Archery #40088Thank you for your service. PTSD is a difficult wound that many have had to deal with. I agree with the advice every one is giving you about the bow. I would add do not pay attention to where the arrow hits the target. Proper form is most important now. But you need to be nonjudgmental when you practice. Practice with mindfulness. Feel the wood touching your bow hand. Notice your five senses. The idea is to completely pay attention to your practice but not the results. This is being in the moment. Mindfulness is a technique I teach to people that I am privileged to help with PTSD. Being in the moment gives your mind a break from thinking about the past or the future. Using mindfulness a number of times a day helps build inner strength to cope with the emotional wounds. Again thank you for your service.

in reply to: proper treatment of new bow #63917Maybe some physical therapist types can chime in but I remember that using too much wt can cause some muscle and growth problems in growing boys. I agree with others about gradually increasing bow wt. You will be all set when he has children with different bow wts.
