May I ask a question? WHY do we want such heavy broadheads 200-300 gr.)??
I am 65 yrs old, been bowhunting since 1968…back when Bob Swinehart was writing for “Archery World”??? I eventually learned and insisted on perfect arrow flight. Perfect is when you say it’s perfect. I have shot Zwickeys and Snuffers primarily (125-150 gr) and POC arrows. I will not shoot carbons. My bow is 50# @ 28″. I have 27″ draw. I almost always got pass throughs (I shoot close) and have not lost deer. Why would I now want to go to 200-300 gr broadheads?

Glad to hear that. Welcome, Happy New Year, and God Bless you too.
in reply to: Here's to Mystery #8395Yeah, well… used to be we had a government to be proud of, too. Nothing is gonna change. In fact, it will get worse. But hey… don’t let it get you down. Nobody is telling us we can’t do what we do…yet.

I do not find the pics distasteful, obnoxious, repulsive or otherwise disrespectful. I, for one, do not have “TAXIDERMY EYES” neither am I about to purchase any, as was suggested in an email to me (and most of you all I assume)… so I guess I’ll just keep my photos for me…which is what they are always intended for anyways.
Now go get another, South Texas.

in reply to: stiff, weak or bad form? #52637I know…tuning can be frustrating. That’s why I quit changing “things”. That perfect round hole is a beautiful thing.
Well, I still think you’re a little underspined. You might try a little lower brace height? Something a little thicker than a toothpick? If you tear high, your nock is a little high. If your arrows are wobbling (even a little) and never recover, you’re losing penetrating energy. Good luck. Maybe someone else has something to offer.
in reply to: stiff, weak or bad form? #52575I use a toothpick too. I have always “paper-tuned” my arrows, 10 ft. away through newspaper…starting with a bare shaft. Never satisfied until I got a perfect clean hole, which I do. Again, my “guess” is slightly weak spine. Is your draw length 31.5″ or your arrows? Fast-flite or B-50? Sorry for the questions, but there’s a lot of variables.
in reply to: stiff, weak or bad form? #52545Hi Doug,
Well, to get the ball rolling… whoever has the answer for you will probably need to know what kind of arrow you are shooting (wood, alum, carbon), spine of arrows, right or left handed, what kind of fletching, is your arrow up against an arrow plate, etc. Otherwise, we’re guessing.
My “guess” is …you said it yourself – arrows are kicking to the left, for whatever reason. I’m assuming you’re right handed.
I currently shoot wood arrows 55# spine, 3 x 5 feathers, 30″ with 125 grain snuffers. If I switch to 60# spine and 3 x 4 feathers I’ll have a perfect 51.8 Dynamic Spine. Not impressed with Arrow Energy readout though. But more often than not, I have had pass-throughs.
How are these “numbers” viewed in the world of “opinion”?

My, my…aren’t we a creatively innovative bunch. Very resourceful. NICE job!
Haven’t been “dumpster diving” in years.
