Don’t know about putting it on my clothes, but I’d try it on a wick or cotton ball away from me. I’ve had good luck with Trails End for pre-rut and rut and it has some anise in it. May give the vanilla extract a shot though.

Good luck on your next outing, Frank! Sounds like the makings of memory filled season. 😀

Beatiful shots that you have there. The fall color has yet to show here in eastern Ohio. The air,at times is starting to feel of autumn, but we still are having temps in the 70’s and low 80’s:cry: I can’t wait!

Keep us updated,Dave…I live the elk hunting stories you write, since I’ve never been and probably will never be in the tall timber stalking wapiti. Like hearing from the Misters Sigurslid and Bugnon also….An occasional pic helps too. Best of luck to all three of you “Shrewhaveners”:D

I cover my fletch on my bow quiver with an camo pants leg cut off of about 10 or 12 inches in length. Put velcro straps across on end so that you can hang the skirt over the rubber arrow gripper. I think it helps to keep the deer from seeing my fletch especially when still hunting.

The milkweed really works well. I use that too.

Will check out this link asap, as we boys from Ohio can only dream of living amongst the elk herds. BTW were you out today and did you hear any bugling or have any close encounters?

Thanks for putting into words that which we are all thinking about and preparing for, Mr. Stout.

Good luck to one and all. 🙂

Jason, hope you’re not getting rid of your Savannah! They’re a heck of a bow. Glad to see your choosing between 2 good ones. I’d favor the Woodland as I heard they are real good shooters and the price is cheaper than the BW. I’ve only shot the Savannahs and like them. Your choice, buddy…

On several occasions during my years of bowhunting I usually just tell my wife or son if I’ve happened upon a big boy and just don’t say anything to others. I’m guilty of this….. and usually if asked directly about having seeing any good bucks, I’ll answer,”yes” without elaborating.

I love all stickbows! I prefer my hybrid longbow, but own all of the above. I enjoy shooting all at one time or another.

Sounds like you need to go to a lighter bow weight. My situation was the same and I went from a 58# longbow to a 52#, and it sure made a difference. Of course, I had to change my arrows and everything, but I’m right back in the hunting game. I found a Elk River 52# R/D that is sweet to shoot….unfotunately the bowyer, Keith Smith of Moundsville WVa has quit making them. Waiyne

I shoot my Elk River 70″ longbow, which is 52# @ 28″…..which makes me a ground hunter ever since I fell in love with shooting it. Atually, I was getting tired of falling out of trees and it’s a good excuse to do just that, since it’s not very handy in a tree stand…….or maybe, just getting old.
