in reply to: Got an awesome donation for the kids #40938That’s great CottonW!!!
A picture is worth a 1,000 words! PROOF! That “traditional” bows either came with sight packages or had sights manufactured just for them. The secret is out! 😛
A lot of guys of yesteryear put a sight pin or match stick taped on their bow.
in reply to: Find a Classic, Fix It Up. #40886Nice! Can’t wait to see it refurnished! 8)
in reply to: When The Compound Was Born… #38462What Hiram said, my friends and I looked upon it as a Machine. Not a Bow.
in reply to: Instinctive Shooting: Practice Distances #38461What Hiram saiid. No shame in learning Split Vision or Gap. I tend to agree, shooting at longer distances tends to increase the accuracy of the shorter distances. Notice I did NOT say makes ahorter distances a “gimme”. There are no “gimme’s” in Traditional archery. Shooting longer distances only accentuates the flaws in form, so when discipline and correction are enforced at longer ranges, overall accuracy increases for both short and longer ranges.
in reply to: German Pine???? #35849Yeah I kinda figured that! 😛
in reply to: Footed Shafts #34184Ben.. No! No stumps for these guys! Just Fur & Flesh! I’ll post pics when they are done, should be in a few days.
in reply to: Target Panic #31216I have not read Jason’s article yet although I know it will be great. Hiram & Marine.. I like what you guys have said. I suffered from target panic several years ago after shooting (or trying to) shoot competitively in NFAA league. It was awful. My doubt and lack of confidence crept in, and took over. I found out a couple of things… 1) almost 90% of my practice now is dedicated to form. It is so automatic now that 2) when shooting for accuracy I just focus on making the shot and don’t even think (worry) about what I am doing, it is all in learned memory. Shooting at an animal has never been a problem for me, I lose it after the shot and have to calm down at that point, Guess I am very lucky in that aspect.
in reply to: Footed Shafts #28883Well… I was able to pick up a dozen Footed Shafts from Surewood Shafts at Compton’s this past weekend. I went back to Doug Fir, I prefer the heaviness of Doug Fir over Spruce. I picked up a Doug Fir footed with Bubunga combo. I can’t wait to work on these, but I ain’t cutting or tapering nothing until this damn humdity breaks.
$110… big ones for shafts! I convinced the Mrs. these are strictly for hunting, no stump or 3D shooting with these expensive beauties. I will post pic’s when they are completed.
in reply to: Broadhead of choice let's hear it #28875I’ve had great results with the Magnus Vented 2 Blade. I tried Grizzly’s but sharpening them is a (questionable?) chore, and I could not get them to fly as good as my Magnus 2 Blades. Although, I think there is a lot to be said about Howard Hill’s analysis of the width to length ratio of a broadhead. I am going to try some STOS 2 Blades and see how well I can tune them. Probably will give them a shot this coming deer season.
