in reply to: 2012 Season Success Photos #13692
Those are some phenomenal success shots for the year I came up skunked but had a good time doing it.
in reply to: Here's to Mystery #13689To me the mystery is one of the parts of hunting that helps me keep learning when i am out in the woods. I am not surprised in this day and age that people worship technology to get an edge after all while it is supposed to enable us technology also speeds us up and leaves us less time to do other things. I don’t hate technology the problem is the lack of balance so many people have.
in reply to: what bow now? #10597Welcome aboard. There are ways to measure your draw length. The big consideration on any bow whether recurve or longbow is that will it pinch or stack on you with a longer draw. Also if you are just restarting you might want to go with a lighter weight and develop good form and accuracy and then build up to a heavier weight. After all if a bow says 60# @ 28″ then if you are drawing say 30″ you will be drawing 66# which maybe a little hard to draw and shoot right from the get go.
in reply to: A little stumping video. One stump…8^). #9401George; I was able to watch these the other day they now say they are part of a private album. Can you update to watch again.
in reply to: Barta in a high fence? #9159I agree with Roger and since I have no problem offending. I disagree with don’t worry about others after all that type of situational ethics allowed the Hedge Fund manager to argue it was okay for him to ruin the country financially under that umbrella. Also as my dad used to say live your life by the example you want others around you to be.
in reply to: New Member From Oregon #9151Welcome to the site. Glad to have you here.
in reply to: Santa came! New JMA Elkheart #8033Dave I try to keep minimal but enjoy great art and sharing with others. For feral pigs does kingwouldbe hunt on a ranch or he might know of some free range there in CA that would be close. I think this year for turkey I might head to either Nebraska or Kansas instead of stay in state to have a little fun. Enjoy the new bow and all the fun shooting it.
in reply to: Your First Few Years Into Trad Bowhunting? #8027yes and Yes on both. However over the past year since I stopped completely shooting the wheelie. I went ahead and sold it. I do have my days where I shoot great and some days where my release is not where I want it so I have bad accuracy. However I enjoy the getting out and shooting even in the cold and wind for fun.
in reply to: A little stumping video. One stump…8^). #8023Enjoyed the videos you always produce nice ones to show your shots.
in reply to: Went primitive today #8022cool woodwork there tailfeather. good luck and hope you see some animals to try this setup out on.
in reply to: Barta in a high fence? #8018The problem I have with Barta over this is how often he was over the top about doing things the hard way no matter what. I know it is easy to throw that out the window when he became paralyzed but I think that is when you have to try harder to practice what you preach. I never cared for his in your face style but that was who he was so I got a chuckle out of that.
in reply to: Santa came! New JMA Elkheart #63394Dave glad you are enjoying shooting the new bow. So what are the plans for the first hunt to take on to draw a little blood.
in reply to: Peak to Creek Outfitters #52430The outfitter should have a license number from the DOW to operate here in CO. You can always call DOW to get any reports they have on the outfitter.
in reply to: Some Game recipes… #50001If you ever go goose hunting or wild turkey hunting. I have found to make the meat taste less gamey that I soak it in a buttermilk brine for 48 hours and it has a good flavor. In general for most deer or elk I like to smoke low and slow the smoker for about 4-5 hours, nice tender and tasty.
