in reply to: FOC question #60952Bowman,
If your arrow doesn’t weaken too much, a TuffHead 225 broadhead will do wonders for the “big three” regarding your arrow……increase FOC, increase arrow weight and increase penetration.
in reply to: Feather???? What Feathers!!!! #43304….but the structural integrity is quite amazing no matter what I write on.:D
in reply to: Feather???? What Feathers!!!! #43264Hey…that’s my footed pen feathers!
in reply to: Arrow Speed #41240Other than his nasty left ear, look at the symmetry of that head. He’s also sporting a nice butt cut with his horn hair do.
BOY…would I like to see if I could bury my arrow in him. Acutally, I am really curious to see how much arrow, if any, would exit him.
in reply to: Arrow Speed #41185Troy, That little tike reminds me of the general complex of many on other trad sites.
in reply to: Feather???? What Feathers!!!! #40429Hey hey!!! Let’s not talk unkindly about the Southern way of anything. You’re just jealous. 😆
➡ And we know who the Hotel California surfer dude is with the accent.
in reply to: Fronkinsteen flies, she flies!!!! #36496Troy…Did you hear that? There it is again. It’s a soft whimper by AWPForester at SB.
The closer to centershot the bow the more difficult it is to build EFOC, UEFOC or …. the unmentionable FOC arrows.
That’s my dilema when shooting a 71@31 Widow recurve. Not only close to center shot (have already built plate out a bit) but I don’t want to give up bow weight or draw length.
The best UEFOC arrow I have gotten so far is 1050 grains and 38% FOC….and a very quiet bow.
in reply to: A long look at fletching and EFOC #33511As of now, calculating all the arrow components together looks to be in the 1250-1300 grain range. Just not sure yer if the 7″ e,eternal footing will stiffen arrow enough. But I do have the details in mind that will give me 43%. Still early yet.
in reply to: A long look at fletching and EFOC #33373As I begin my tinkering I increased point weight to 560 of the arrow I have and only got 37.6%. The 27 7/8″ balance point mark is where I reach 43% FOC. That requires 850 grains up front……ain’t happening….unless I were to use a 6-7″ 2117 footing to stiffen arrow quite a bit.
Oh brother….challenges challenges
in reply to: A long look at fletching and EFOC #32873All right!!! Can’t wait to take the BHFOC arrow to SB. It will be ha-Larry-us to see all the SBers tell me why its so ridiculous and how I need to build arrows in moderation.
Troy, I’m thinking maybe fill the TuffHead 300 ferrule with lead…..but then again those dudes may be too expensive for experimenting.
in reply to: A long look at fletching and EFOC #32757At what percentage does BHFOC start? Just tell me the number, 35+%? 😆 I’ve got to have one. I can’t wait to see the Lasters (Light and fast crowd) at SB tell me how ridiculous it is to have a BHFOC arrow and I should only use trad equipment in moderation….moderate weight bow and arrow and forget about the bones.
King,
You could use a 225 field point and get a 200 gr. adapter or a 200 FP and get a 170 ish..which is on my TuffHead 300 now.
Have you tried the Victory HV 300’s yet? They are like 6.9 gpi. instead of the 8.6 we are using now with the GT UL 300.
in reply to: A long look at fletching and EFOC #31919King…
That adapter you have in your judo is the way I’ve been making my heavy broadhead adapters for several years now. Look at the draw clearance you have added with the long adapter. Now you can cut your arrow shorter to create more spine for more FOC.
Speaking of long draw….just keep pulling it back. I anchor with string touching brow.
