in reply to: Lost Season, Maybe Worse #23798
Good luck with the surgery and R&R Don.
I’ve been blessed with a wife who is an RMT and probably has so far saved me from big trouble.
Hope all goes well.
in reply to: Question about wood arrow finishes #23793Jim, what I had last was wipe on. Ask me not what brand:D
I think I bought it at wally world.
in reply to: Kanati Solo Quiver #23580Ralph – you’re referring to the BW “Acie in the Hole” quiver here?
Yep, the one that’s stuck on the bow with adhesive.
I agree on closer to the bow.
in reply to: Kanati Solo Quiver #23450Yeah Bruce, I have a friend that has one of those mounted on a 3 piece long bow. I didn’t like so much of the arrow being unsupported and so much of the fletched end hanging free to hang up in stuff.
You’ve seen this pic:
It would be interesting to see a one arrow mount attached to the riser which would even have the arrow holders even closer together than this Great Northern does.
There may be less reaction seeing that it’s not attached to the limbs????
in reply to: Kanati Solo Quiver #23403Thanks for info Bruce. I love one arrow quivers, been using Skookums’ for years, one still I’m still using and hanging in it’s there, the other broke the other day. I’ve been unable to find info on Skookum so I’ll give Kaniti a look at.
in reply to: The Running Woodsman #22691Speaking of birds, I was sneaking around in the fog this morning hoping to see a deer within shooting range (it would’ve been cause I could only see 20 yds.or so) and I stepped right in the middle of a covey of about a dozen bobwhites. Damn! That’s why I keep tp and some Huggies in my bag.
My old ticker can still rapidly tick I guarantee ya. ๐
in reply to: What ya got goin? #22682in reply to: The Running Woodsman #20994One fine morning, the coyote I observed slipping in behind several does with fawns, it hoping for an easy meal.
Over a rise and out of sight and all quiet on the prairie for a short time then suddenly a coyote hauling a$$ with a doe right on the same.
No easy meal for that one that day.
And speaking of owls, a bit later that same morning I watched an owl land in a tree, the only tree in the area, seemingly to hunker down for the day. It wasn’t long when a small murder of crows decided the same thing about the same tree.
That was a hell of a racket, feathers flying and out flew the owl seeking a kinder tree somewhere else.
It was a good morning even if I did muff a shot at a 3×3 muley buck a short time later.

in reply to: Hunting Practice? #12704Seriously, every time I’m out, not only am I shooting, I’m “snooping” too. I check out tracks, I find beds, I sometimes see things I knew not what they are or were. Sometimes I find a puzzle, what happened here? I try to figure who did what to who. Sometimes I find artifacts and occasionally some petrified bones. Speaking of, I have one I need to get some help on figuring out what it was.
The computer is my friend in satisfying my curiosity, most of the time. I have had to have help identifying a few things and thankfully there are some kind professors at WTAMU in Canyon, TX.
Like a piece of ivory stuff I found. Turns out it’s a piece of a saber toothed tigers big tooth. Glad they’re not chomping on us anymore.
My lease is big and I can use it all year, not just for hunting season, so I spend a lot of time up there just being there trying to blend in and just be.
