My parents had friends from Norway & Sweeden… we kept their 3 kids at our place while the parents went back to the home country to visit family.
Knowing I loved the outdoors, they brought me a Mountain Knife.
I noted a guy from Sweden on another site and wrote to him and he had me photograph the knife, retype what was stamped in the sheath and he researched it.
Turned out to be an original Helle knife, with Ram horn handle wafers.
Since we’re sharing… takes one wicked edge, but I seldom carry it, having a host of other less personal knives to carry/use.
Ive had that knife for over 55 yrs…took it too a leather shop and had the top tang leather holder replaced as it was shot.
Thanks for letting me share that with ya’ll… (I’m in TN now so that is the proper plurality I believe):D
We spell ya’ll, y’all around here. π
in reply to: Neck Knife #14956That’s pretty darn sharp :-)) my friend. I like it.

At the end of John Schultz’s video here, he has some technique for really tired Aussies.:D
Well damn, no wonder my feet get so cold. I’ve been using the wrong kind of insults.
Thanks buddy, I’ll look a bit closer to the labels on the box next time I try to buy warm boots. π
I think Doc mentioned fat fingers on keyboards on a thread, I’m adding brain f…s on this one. π
P.S. Bruce, you didn’t insulate me. π
in reply to: Cat Quiver #11827I had one many moons ago and thought it was going to be the cat’s meow.
I was on the Grand Mesa in CO. hunting deer/elk and all was OK until I decided to sit for awhile on a big old log and rest and glass.
Seems like there was something on my rear that didn’t allow sitting.
Never used it again for that reason.
in reply to: Kayak hunt fail.. #11635Jim, that looks like a place not to be kayaking. He looks like he might take you and your little boat in one gulp. Croc version of “Big Gulp”
Reckon if I’d have used the tongue from an insulted boot it’d kept my hand warm:roll:
Carlos has new music coming so you can make up for what you missed.:D
I been going back to my gloves more so lately. I don’t know why but it seems that sooner or later with my tabs my anchor tends to start creeping away from my face.
It’s easier to cure the problem by going back to my beginnings than it is to worry about the present and concentrate on what I’m shooting at.
They say it’s never to late for old dogs to learn new tricks but maybe this old dog don’t wanna!:D He just wants be better with what he’s got.
Keep your hand to your face!!!!!!!!!Ralph
Thx for compliment.
in reply to: Practicing the "Cold Shot" #10754Good shot Bruce!
Down this way though it’s “Even a blind hog finds an acorn every now and then”. π It’s pronounced “akern” π
in reply to: Feeling Guilty #10750I’ve never felt guilty about not taking deer with my bow, regretful maybe, especially when I’ve spent so much time and work hoping to make a clean shot if an opportunity came my way and I love being close to nature in the slow and personal way that traditional archery requires .
But when it comes to feeding my family (we feed two for the most part) I’m not concerned, I like to rifle hunt too so it concerns me none and it surely helps on the food bill around here.
I’ve got about 10 “best glove I ever owned” and even more “best tab I ever owned”.
Good that I can find something to spend my money on. π
P.S. I have a super glove that I has gone missing. I was going to try nipping the end of the fingers off but I think it’s hiding.
in reply to: What ya got goin? #9018Thanks Bruce. I don’t know where you live in ID. but I remember that kind of country south of Mountain Home.
Heard of or been to the Indian Bathtubs.
Interesting place, especially if you’re a member of a small Boy Scout troop skinny dipping in the warm water and a tour bus of elderly women appear on the cliff above the “tub”.
