I think a jug of tequila would be the drink of the day down in that country. Double the worm:D Might be a good bartering tool.

in reply to: Back stops #46181Once upon a time I scrounged about 15′-18′ of 1/2″ by 30″ wide conveyor belt that was being replaced. It was a nuisance to cut to length, it’ll test a knife, saw blade or chainsaw blade I guarantee, but it dang sure stops arrows.
I have about 3′ lengths screwed to a 2×4 frame that I hang burlap bags on filled with shrink wrap, plastic bags, etc. Works great.
Saves a lot of wear and tear on my fence.
I’ve only hit the fence once in 25 or 30 years though. π
I don’t shoot broadheads at these target butts. Neither target butt nor broadhead are made for that. I found that out once also.
I have an old 2′ cube of dock foam that I use for that. I just keep putting expanding foam in that. It keeps on working.

Nevertheless, I have tried it on numerous occasions and have gave up on it almost immediately thereafter. I think that’s why I keep going back to it. I keep forgetting why I don’t like it! π
You don’t keep losing and re-finding it do you:roll::?

It had bits of sticks and leaves still in the pockets when it arrived along with some subtle signs of wear.
Ha – nice. Hope they didn’t charge you extra for the foliage. π I’ve gotten most of my best wool shirts off the Bay, for a fraction of the cost of a new one, and often better quality!
The price of shipping nowadays, the sticks and leaves probably cost ya.
in reply to: Custom Bow Makers #42862Yeah, I have a bunch of perfect ones:D
But since I retired the better half says maybe I oughta spend more time perfecting me to the “perfect” bows that I have and quit thinking about the next “perfect” one. π
in reply to: Custom Bow Makers #42850Just a thought, there are a bunch of very good bows out there that don’t cost $1000. π
in reply to: Let's See Your Fletching #42573I made some yellow shafts with yellow barred feathers a couple of years ago. Looked great but in my part of the world, especially in the drought, they made excellent camo shafts. They had a tendency to blend right in. π
in reply to: Let's See Your Fletching #42441Nice! Lotta work uh?:D
in reply to: Thinking about trying wood arrows #39203I have to use heat to get nocks off that have been glued on for real and they’re definitely not reusable.
My old Jo Jan multi fletcher, when 3 fletching is when I just temp glue nocks. When I convert it to 4 fletch I’m happy how they come out so I go ahead and glue them on permanent when 4 fletching. Just the nature of the beast and perhaps some of it is the way I have my helical set.
My arrows will work fine actually as they come off in 3 fletch mode but I’m particular how nock and feathers are aligned after years of doing it “my way”:D
I really never think about it anymore but I can remember way back when I had to.
No set guidelines, just ideas and examples. I buggered up more than one arrow in the learning process.
That’s why I think a baker’s dozen arrows would be nice, 1 to experiment with, 12 more to build like you want them.
R2 dozens seem not to add up to 12 for very long:D
in reply to: Thinking about trying wood arrows #39060in reply to: Thinking about trying wood arrows #39001Smart has nothing to do with it, experience does though along with blind luck sometimes. π
I never glue my nocks on permanent while fletching. I use just a little drop of glue on the outside, enough to keep them from moving about, then when I’m through fletching I can twist them off easily and reapply how I like them to be permanently.
