Sounds like you guys gave it a good go and had fun doing it.

John I’ve been shooting woods for 40 years and that little of a grain difference is not gonna make enough difference to notice and if so your brain, hand, eye trio will adapt in no time.

I wouldn’t sweat it. Shoot the closest you can find and have fun.

Doc, I hear 6-7 foot rattlers and the streams are full of cottonmouths. Makes fly fishing and bow hunting tough. ๐Ÿ™„

And I’m tellin y’all, you cain’t see a rattler in the brush, in the dark, with a red lens on your flashlight.

That first step after all got quiet was about the bravest thing I ever did. ๐Ÿ™

They have those flying carp in TN? If so, maybe there’s areason they be leaping out of the water.

          Pleasant dreams my friend. ๐Ÿ˜€

Good idea, the boots. Especially if you’re attractive to venomous snakes. ๐Ÿ˜€ Dang man, twice ain’t cool. Lucky you’re not buggered up.

Probably best to leave the rattles off the skins on the bow too as the noise may be as bad as the shine of a finish. ๐Ÿ™‚

You’re gonna hafta put the rattle back on the snake!:D

Speaking of such, SE of Carlsbad, NM I was out stumping and exploring and shot a rattler in a bush with a blunt about 10′ away. Everything got quiet so I tip toed over to check things out and there was no snake, only a set of 8 rattles laying on the ground with my blunt. Oh no! Can’t believe this crap. I shot the rattles off and now I have a noiseless rattlesnake around here that’s pee’od at me.

I got my walking stick out of the truck and very carefully started probing the bushes. I finally found it, about a 3 1/2 footer. Talk about a spooky deal until I found the thing and finished it off.

Made me think about those folk that live around snakes that don’t make noise.

This oughta be a bit of help for our drought, 13″ heavy wet snow.

Normally I’d have my targets dug out but after digging out my little Escape, my wife’s car and my truck, nuff is enuff for one old man’s day.

Where’s those grandsons you raised Poppa?

That’s pretty cool Jason. Simplicity is the key. I’ll gather up what I need next time I go the hardware store. Thanks.

Took this picture of a fluffy feather on a weed at the archery range today just cause I could.

One of the few days in the Texas Panhandle when the wind’s not blowing and this pic would’ve been impossible with a phone camera in the wind.

Shot with a buddy for 3 hours.

                          Winter is back tomorrow.

Bunch of y’all wintered in I guess?

It belongs to one who will not let anyone hunt. Hogs are tearing the hell out of the place too.:evil:

Good old Texas Wildlife folks just shrug their shoulders and tell them hunting would help a bunch. ๐Ÿ™‚

                                  Here’s mine:

Another thing I do that helps this old fart out is that I carry an old 4wheeler ramp, bungied ๐Ÿ˜• down cause it’s noisy when not, and use it when I get to my truck to drag the deer into the bed.

There be other methods of doing this I’ve read, like some use a piece of plywood but that gets slippery and really no place to put it when the deer is in the truck bed. The ramp folds up out of the way.

                                  Just saying
