in reply to: Arrow build help needed #141014
David I assume you’re shooting a longbow since you made a reference to the arrows used to shoot great out of your recurve?
And carbon arrows?

in reply to: Grain scale ??? #140640I would be way appreciative for some of that deposit also!!!!
in reply to: Grain scale ??? #140622Mine is made by US Balance.
I’ve had it forever.
I researched US Balance scales and found them to buy still at reasonable price.
I’ve never found any need for any kind of accessories. Don’t know why I’d want to complicate weighing an arrow or points or broadheads.
in reply to: What ya got goin'? 2 #140376I just spent the weekend before last at Wellington, TX helping my friends at Sagebrush archery set up a 30 target 3D course, and more time doing so last Friday then spent Saturday and Sunday enjoying the shoot and the company of 250 or so trad folks.
Never heard a cross word, except for a child unhappy because she had to stop shooting her bow for the day :-)).
There are always those at 3D shoots that are dead serious about winning, but what I love is that there’s a way bunch more that are dead serious about having fun.
I can’t say though, that it’s much fun trying to find a misbehaving arrow in the shinnery, but that’s my fault it got there.
It was really hard to admit that the wind effect or an arrow with bad manners can misplace it’s self. Usually.
I refuse to always take the blame. :-))
By the way, there are those who know that there is much more to setting and putting on a tourney than just setting the targets. The setting is done when the weed eaters and tractors and tools are at rest.
Also, there are the folks who get the awards and prizes and food and water etc all organized and gathered up. It’s a group chore.
Gotta give thanks to all who helped.
in reply to: What ya got goin'? 2 #139272David, I’m working real hard now to get her be proficient with the pooper scooper.
Can’t say that I’m doing to well at it tho.

Little miss smarty britches, Mitzi, laid there and read my new mag whilst I was out back mowing in 96* heat.

in reply to: Smoking arrows ??? #139008Enough quiet is enough….:-))
One thing about wood arrows, they be good source of kindling in a pinch.
That’d be smoke and fire eh!!!!
Aluminum-carbon….not so…..
in reply to: String question; #138802I’ve never been to a trad shoot where a multicolored sting was even a thought about being a problem. Everyone has them.
in reply to: String question; #138787You don’t have to buy or build a jig if’n you don’t wanna….
Look this up.
This how I make my strings.. They work great, look good.
I’ve never had a complaint from anyone that I have given one to.
I’ve made a couple of jigs but they all seem to be oriented for the 4″ shorter string length that is basic for a recurve bow rather than the 3″ shorter for a longbow.
All the instructions that I’ve read always relate to an even numbered length string.
I could use some education perhaps??????????
Probably a way to figure it out but I’m happy with my method.
We already had a ‘my math ability’ discussion on another thread…. :-))
in reply to: What ya got goin'? 2 #138772OK……………..Now for the words of wit………………..What I lack of getting all of my shoulder pull into my bow doesn’t affect mine and Mitzi’s proficiency with Mr. Frisbee…. :-))
in reply to: What ya got goin'? 2 #138770Maybe?
I was trying to post and relate by lack a little shoulder pull with my bow effects not mine and Mitzi’s Frisbee perfection.in reply to: What ya got goin'? 2 #138755Sorry about the two posts above. I was trying something, didn’t work and now I can’t get rid of my trail.
Dang, now that I open my mouth, they’re gone.
Think I be better off being a frisbee tosser this eve than be on the internet.
Just cause I cannot remember how to post a video…………………………..
