Are these stylized interpretations of bows in use then, or are they accurate depictions of the use of short D/R bows during the Norman conquest of Britain?
Are the drawings of animals found in caves an accurate depiction of the critters that were running around then?
A painting is only as good as the artist and IMHO irrelevant to the time period.
Even a sorry picture from caveman to modern man probably better drawn than what I can draw.
No telling what kind of critters would have been running around if I was making caveman drawings of them.
in reply to: What ya got goin? #28270Grumpy, I ain’t grumpin, I’m elating, playing with some satire.
I’m glad it’s raining!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in reply to: What ya got goin? #28224You guys just don’t know how hard it was to listen to the rain and thunder and lightning for most of the night and this morning. :D:D
Tough on an old man that’s seen mostly sand and winds for the last several years.
I had to shoot in the rain for a bit this morning just to see if feathers still get wet. 🙄
If I seem happy, yep, along with this whole chunk of the world. :D:D

Enjoy yourselves, Ralph
in reply to: What ya got goin? #26709Tried to talk ya into plantin’ turnips. If they dry up it ain’t no loss to anyone. 😀
in reply to: What ya got goin? #26700Steve, I’m having to do some rethinking on how to alter plans around rain and mud rather than wind and dust. 😀
Hope it doesn’t dry you guys up too much but I’m enjoying it for a change.
We’ve already received more rain this year than all of 2011 and nearly as much as all of 2012.
Think maybe the skeeters and chiggers gonna be way bad at the archery range this summer.
I hate chiggers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope for the best for the west.

I was brought up among old school shooters, learned their ways, built arrows per their teaching then gradually changed to less amount of feathers on my arrows.
I have several choppers that make some whoppers:) but I haven’t used them much in a long time. Mostly I use a 5″ that’s been R2’d to where it cuts about 4 1/2″ and my 4″ chopper is R2’d to where it cuts about 3 3/4″.
My arrows fly beautiful, straight to where I’m pointing them.
Where their pointed? That’s another issue:lol::lol:
in reply to: What ya got goin? #24624I told my son that strange things happen when you join the Navy. 😀
He lives in FL. and told me the other day he’s still shooting the two longbows I gave him years ago.
He’s in search of some good backstop material now after a trip into the neighbors backyard to fetch an arrow.
I clued him in to the options we’ve discussed here in the past. 🙂
Just wonderin’:?
What’ya do
With a gator
In the pool?

in reply to: Re-Thinking old Thoughts on Woodies #22245Ummm! Ol’Ugg pretty smart, use feathers to make what he had in hand work.
Hungry man make good thing happen!!!!
Not all deep thinking done in modern times. :D:D
