in reply to: Arrows High #39852
I have lots of arrows with mystique….:D…they mysteriously fly all over the place..
Good luck David
in reply to: Arrows High #29664Surely he meant not to use the saw on the recurve:D:roll:
Wonder if low wrist vs high wrist grip, often difference in longbows and receives messing with your sub concious sight picture?
in reply to: Re-Thinking old Thoughts on Woodies #62491Probably good deal Steve. Have fun chasing squirrels.
Civilization encroached on my old prairie dog hunting grounds.
One of my best hunting/shooting days ever one time: I got two of those little buggers in one day. Normal count was zero.
They never let you get close, you’re outnumbered, they always have a sentinel, and they can get in those burrows mighty, mighty quick.
They got more to worry about than me hitting them with my arrow..

That didn’t work at all with my folks, the literary license… The soap tasted awful…….. Wasn’t elegant soap I guess…….probably wouldn’t of mattered though, I don’t imagine any soap was designed to taste good. If so we might all be using literary license more often, not just writers. 😀
in reply to: Re-Thinking old Thoughts on Woodies #49996Two in one house!!!
You be better off to take your woods to the woods and leave the fur to fly…
in reply to: Your most memorable misses…. #49925I saw what yer’all are doin………..
in reply to: Re-Thinking old Thoughts on Woodies #39547Was just wonderin what ol’Andy Capp would think about my carrying a quiver full of carbon darts into his pub one evening.
He might not even notice giving it second thought, he never spots the canal before he’s wet.
in reply to: Re-Thinking old Thoughts on Woodies #39470Ahhh!!! The smell of cedar…:D
Hard to make kindling out of carbon in a pinch uh!!!
Just got through making up 18 woodies., Best cedar shafting I’ve come across in years. Very straight to start with, nice grain. One shaft spined 49#, three or four @52 the rest 50# or 51#. Weigh within 10 grs. Sweet
Made’em up simple.
One day at a time, know where you’re coming from, one arrow at a time too! 😀
Just wonderin:? If you got your mind on your form, you got your mind on your spot? Just wonderin:D:D
in reply to: Rudders long bow #26472robbin68 wrote: Mountainman- Welcome to the site. Good luck with your bow project with your nephew.
R2-First of all, I like the looks of that bow!! Second, I am impressed with your engineering to prolong the life of that target. I shoot a very similar target and I have a very similar issue, but instead of fixing it up nice, I just start shooting at the back leg after the chest is shot out of it.
Thx about both!
His name is now Stumpy…
The walking bear target I had got named “Humpy” when I engineered it.
I’ll leave that up to your imagination. 🙄
Some targets I can extend their shooting life, some I cannot. Depends on where they fail. Lot of them the back breaks and I haven’t solved that yet. Other than quit shooting high.:D Ummmmm, maybe they’re ducking the arrow????

That’s probably a good deal. You know how bad too much sweets are for ya…..:D
Remember the Alamo!!!!!!!!!!!
in reply to: Your most memorable misses…. #18043Don’t get your feet wet crossing streams either?
Just wonderin’:D
in reply to: What ya got goin? #17165Whoops, Dave. I guess when this ol’fellar that grew up in the west and has lived in the Texas Panhandle since ’63’, sees “Jersey” he thinks of the NYC skyline and a bunch of old TV and movie references.
I know there’s pretty country in the NE, just never been up that way…
Be well………….

Nice here today also
I was gonna get out to my lease but had to take care of some electrical stuff around the house. That’s the one thing I do know about, others not so much…:D
Shot some of my older bows out back though. Love those bows but they’re about to outgrow me some methinks.
I be better off right now with 45, 46 47, 48 pounds rather than 52, 54, 55 pounds.
Easy to get sloppy after a dozen or so shots.
My wife says I’m sloppy enough without adding to it. 🙄
Very nice picture.
