There’s quail out there………..
Somewhere………………….
in reply to: What ya got goin'? 2 #113374The weather here is unreal this year. My winter attire whilst stumping at the lease today.
Yesterday I wouldn’t have been able to stand up- 63 mph winds.
in reply to: twisting strings #113373The main reason I keep that site handy is cause it might be six months or more between my making a string and I forget sometimes.
Funny though when I actually get my hands on the material it all comes back.
in reply to: gone buck G Fred #113281Hope you get well soon.
in reply to: twisting strings #112838I make strings like this, old fashioned but so am I. Old anyway..far from fashionable:-)) All I need is string material, two nails, a ruler or old string.
It may take a little experimentation but I think it explanatory enough that maybe you can see why your twist are undoing.
Like you gotta have twists in your string bundles……Like Steve be sayin’…
in reply to: Backpacks and Bino's #112837That’ll work!!
\Thanks for sharing :-))
in reply to: $10 experiment #112551Steve they are compressed. That little bundle of straws weighs 50#.
One can get different types of hay compressed also but it’s double the price.
I’ll experiment for $10 and if it lasts for a time next I’ll buy some hay and when it falls apart I can then feed the sheep in the pasture out back. There be about a 100 head of sheep, for the most part, and goats.
They love my grass clippings…………..It’s quite interesting to watch the power struggles that take place when I dump my mower buckets over the fence. Way better fun than the ones I read about.
in reply to: Backpacks and Bino's #112540Steve, you got a pic?
in reply to: Now hear this #112437Cock and uncocked?????
in reply to: Now hear this #112433I say, I say what you sayin boy?
in reply to: Good, Bad, and Ugly #112413Officially a hunter you be Grumpy. Whole bunch of good stuff you write.
The hunting world ain’t like it is in the books, on TV or for da** sure it’s not like the advertisements for gear and equipment say it is. Buy me and never fail, never be cold, never be wet. Yeah, at least not in my budget of life.
It always amazes me how the critters “know”. They’ve not the communications capabilities that we do but they got “the know”.
Around here the wind nearly always blows. The right direction, the wrong direction, matters not. Hunt the wind, right direction or not. Silent as a feather in a breeze, moving at a snails pace…..perfect trad hunting technique… But it seems often to matter not cause there’s always one animal “that knows”.
Always that one smart a**, usually, like Chuck Adams used to refer to as, a propeller headed doe, be locked on you. She “KNOWS”….And she’s perfectly willing to share what she knows…to every other four footed critter around, the world.
Enjoyed your piece there Mr. Grumpy….😉
in reply to: Now hear this #111440Ducks with a bow a problem David?
Just wonderin’ 😇
in reply to: Now hear this #111438Steve, I agree.
My mother insisted on having ducks along with every other critter we had. There ain’t anything that’ll mess up the barnyard worse than ducks except for geese. They make it so bad that ‘watching your step’ don’t help one bit. Just wade in and DON’T FORGET TO TAKE THOSE SHOES OFF BEFORE YOU GO INTO THE HOUSE.
I don’t know if wild duck is any better than tame duck. It’d have to be a bunch for me to decide to shoot one and eat it.
The best we ever came up with was to fillet the breasts out and chicken fry them.
The gravy was good..
in reply to: Good, Bad, and Ugly #110230You done well Grumpy………………You put that together in a good way.
Mind if I add one little thing to your last “do something to attract deer”?……….fall asleep. 😌
They always wake me as they depart. 😡
in reply to: Now hear this #110229Quackers revenge? Best play heads up Steve 😉
