I don’t think the 1st amendment’s freedom of speech was envisioned to become quite what it has become either.

One thing about the freedom of speech, I can say what I say, true/false/good/bad/one sided/

whatever…..someone on the internet will believe me.

Ahhh, regulations. They’ve always worked well to excite the ingenuity of mankind to find ways around them, even eons ago ( I ain’t gonna say a thing about an apple)………Prohibition (before my time :-)) ……) brought more drinking and more crime. Regulating drugs has been really effective, more drug use and more crime. More regulations on guns, I’m sure that’ll work just like the others.

Perhaps if we could come up with regulations against good the reverse psychology effect of regulations might still hold true?

      Back on subject.

When it comes to choices of weapons that are to be used for hunting, as long as they are ethical, legal and make hunting a one on one deal between hunter and hunted, every hunter ought to be able to use his choice of weapon.  The time period for it to be used in fairness to and the safety of other hunters using different types of weapon is debatable.

I have my opinion that a crossbow should not be allowed during archery season. It has a trigger and a sight.

But then again, I had the same thoughts during a period of my life about sighted compound bows shot with a mechanical release. Not really a whole lot of difference there other than horizontal and vertical, it also has a trigger and a sight.

Heck, there was a time when it was common to see traditional bows with sights. Many bows were factory drilled and tapped for them. There was local funk about that (probably would have been more than local flack but believe it or not some of y’all, there hasn’t always been social media) as there was/is funk about shooting Mediterranean style or shooting 3 under nowadays.

Controversy is created over the dumbest s**t.

If a certain group supports and idea or method and they win out, those opposing side cannot blame them for the win. The losers need to figure out why they lost.

Our country could use a dose of that right now.

I think more free lunches and other assorted freebies would probably be the answer…………………..not spoken with any sarcasm either………………….:-))

AS for most homicidal, maybe?  The United Nations has at least 10 more countries listed with higher murder rates per capita the the US.

        Enough bickering outta me.

I would rather have friends that have differences of opinions with mine as to make enemies because we differ.

I can say this ain’t going where it needs to be going for a traditional bowhunting site Steve.

You think the world or country would be more peaceful  without firearms fine. Study history and see how well that has always worked, a populace that can’t defend it’s self. How many died in Germany, Russia, China.

Think of Genghis Khan’s hordes and their massacres.  Guns didn’t have a thing to do with that.

I hate that we have idiots that want to kill the innocents and I’m very sorry for the loss for families and friends but the numbers pale to that of a a defenseless population.

I’m not interested in a political battle, draw lines in the sand.

The guns ain’t killing people, but that seems to be beyond some people’s comprehension. Bows, arrows, spears, crossbows have all done way lots of damage in the past. Matters not the weapon, it’s the human mind that kills.

You’re entitled to your opinion and me mine. Dickering like the press or politicians is not gonna change my view nor yours.

So I’m done, I’m out, chew me out, but I don’t care.

I’ve been to North Africa and Europe I’ll tell you I’m glad I have the right to defend myself. Those who don’t want that right or see the need of it need to look around. What’s happening in the world?

But I still have weapons in my home, my vehicle and on my person that are well more suited to protect me and mine than a longbow or recurve can be.

How much money is being spent to take those away from me? We could be at the mercy of a police state to protect us from each other.

There is more to life than longbows, recurves and crossbows.

I was going down the little hill into our archery range and saw a person hunkered down like he had a gun on the sight in butts. I say to me “S**t”.

Come to find out he was “benching” a crossbow. It’s the first I’ve come across anywhere and for sure the first at our ARCHERY RANGE.

There are no yays or nays in our bylaws so I guess he was legal.

I visited with him just to see what was up.

The feller told me he was going to Missouri, gonna kill a buck with his crossbow then hunt does with a longbow………….

Ummmm…Then there’s me with my always mind my P’s and Q’s self, had to ask if it was legal to hunt bucks in Missouri with a longbow or did you have to kill one with a crossbow before you could hunt with a longbow.

                  Pissed him off but tough.#$*@..

I hunt with a rifle also but I ‘hunt’ with a rifle.  I hunt with a trad bow also but I ‘hunt’ with a trad bow.  I don’t “kill” something then go hunting.

I have no use for crossbows during archery season.

I actually got a verbal response from the NRA about the use of crossbows during archery season. They were very blunt in telling me that they supported all hunting and that it was just up to the individual whether they approved of crossbows during archery season or not.

I nearly quit the NRA because of that and if it wasn’t for their support of the 2nd amendment I would have.

Sorry you’ve been under the weather David.  Sucks to be sick anytime but some times it’s a bit more frustrating than others.

Maybe you’ll be able to get out next week.

Weather on/off cold/warm up/cold/warm up here. Man must make sure he has his layers close to hand.  Wind blocker style preferred.

People think of Texas as a warm place, it is compared to some others, but up here in the panhandle we be a bit of an orphan to the rest of the state. 0* and lower winter temps and way minus windchill factors is cold methinks.

What’s sad right now is we’re, as of today, on our 83rd day of no measurable moisture. It’s drier than a popcorn :-)toot around here.

Hunting nearly over here, this weekend basically. Some youth hunts around and I think some game management areas open still for awhile.

Be well and if’n you ain’t, get thata way OK?

                            Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!

We only have one child around here anymorebut she’s a handful. Easily made happy though :-)) A little loving goes a long way.

For people too if’n we haven’t forgotten that these days..

We get to go to the kids place for holidays these days.  Kinda nice as it takes a big load off of Shirley.

Best wishes to all and be blessed…

Yesterday I proved something…..at 4* windchill my archery equipment worked great. The archery equipment handler…. not so great. I still think it was equipment failure though why an arrow got broken on the fence…..

Gettin a tad dry around here again folks.. No moisture since early October..

A couple of spike muley bucks down there.  They look far but they were only about 100 yards away.

I wish my camera could do justice to the size and ruggedness of this canyon but take my word for it. And this is just part of it.

Get a deer down in there it may seem as large as an elephant by the time you get it back to the truck.

Not anyplace down there to stop and get a drink either..

The deer above are in another area by the way.

It’s great in a spray bottle, aimed so as not to harm a dog’s eyes and such, as a reminder of the yay’s and nay’s for a teenage pitbull pup.
