in reply to: First deer and thanks to Tradbow folks #29131
Way to go!!! Job well done and a memory to treasure. And to be with your son at the time…………….:D
in reply to: ABS "Super Glove" #28804Thanks. I’ll go ahead and order the large. I mostly shoot a tab but I like to shoot a glove also. Besides, who knows when one might boo boo and only have one or the other around. This old feller ain’t tough enough for bare finger stuff. 😀 I have a large Dura glove but it ain’t stretching at all in the finger stalls. I happen to have a buddy who has a tad smaller hand than mine so…..maybe can recover some $$$$? Thanks again, Ralph
in reply to: ABS "Super Glove" #28763Hey hammer! Do the fingers sizes pretty much match what it says for large, medium, whatever. I have a large sized hand but some large gloves like duraglove are almost too snug and some others are sloppy.?
You mean it ain’t readin, ritin’ and rithmetic!Dang!! I been wrong a long time.

Oklahomas family Dog Shot with Arrows Left for Dead.
Don’t know if this’ll work for me but above is the story of some cruel person or persons at work.
I like what grumpy had to say also. We try to do it right but “to be human is to err”. An act like the story above is totally pointless and evil. Poor dog.
Hey stump, sounds like your problem like mine with mesquite. Not made for human nor vehicle nearness. I’ve skinned deer and found those 1″-2″ thorns under their skin. Gotta be hurtful. I don’t like stiff soled boots but I dang sure ain’t wearing mocs or tennis shoe type footwear in this part of the world. Those that do are tougher than me (or something else) and I don’t really care. SW of here in New Mexico where I used to hang out a lot, there’s Lechuguilla Cactus and that ain’t for messing with either. It ain’t called “horse crippler” for no reason. Years ago (How long? You could buy a non resident archery license in NM for $33)I opted to hunt in the Guadalupe’s in “tenny sneakers” Dumb! Cholla cactus, dead and laying on the ground…..
Maybe why the ancients enjoyed their tiswin, in order to ease the pain.
in reply to: More international good press for bowhunting #24737“The internet seems to have become a primary source of hunting education, and it is not the sort of education you might hope that young hunters would receive.”
A quote that I found somewhere. Fitting methinks. Radio, national news all “good sources” –
in reply to: Pheasant hunt #24652Fun ain’t it? Not overly productive but that’s not always a fun requirement. The only one I ever shot, I have no dog, jumped up so close I had an arrow in him almost before my brain said “rooster”. I was using a flu flu with a 2 blade and a little star washer behind it. I have a couple of 2″ snarro’s but I’ve never hit anything with one yet so dunno if they’re worth it or not. My arrows are having a hard time catching up to doves. Dang sure not much way to quiver those snarro’s.
I just like tryin’. 😀
Have fun!!!! All my pheasant places have been sold out from under me. Big money in the Texas Panhandle the pheasant hunting is.
Heck, one year I had a place about 200 yds. wide, a mile long with an old farm house and barns on it. Brushy. Between two maize fields. Guess where the birds flew when jumped:wink: Dudes on one side had horses, dogs, and the hunters were dressed in outfits like British fox hunters. Sight to see. Guys on the other side had a bunch of uncontrolled dogs. Guess which little po’boy lost that place the next year. Like I said, have fun. Some for me.
in reply to: The 2013 Season Bulletin Board #24640Way to go!
My day yesterday, no fog until shooting light then fogged up big time. Couldn’t see 10 yds. Cows were bawling and raising Cain then the ranchers feed truck with his siren started in. Seems he’s moving cows from pasture to pasture and the cows just follow along like they be on a leash. Noisily:evil: Why the cowboys were pushing from behind? Just cause that’s what a cowboy gotta do I guess:D.
Afternoon. Spotted bout 25 turkeys coming out of river. Ha, Gonna head them off. Much easier to ambush turkeys than catch up to’em. Everything going my way, turkey sounds getting closer, closer….. siren starts again, cowboys hollering at each other…s*** from my end. What birds? So I climbed a hill to watch. Finally all, cowboys, cows, feed truck headed of to the west to another pasture about a mile away. Thank goodness. Was gonna stump shoot but the rancher sprayed to kill mesquites a few years back. They’re pretty much gone but replaced by multitudes of tumbleweeds.
.Not particularly a good place for a blunt in this junk.
Going out tomorrow morning and hopefully my part of the hunting world has settled down.
I did call a coyote in on the way out. No shot. Some may not believe this but coyotes have a 7th sense. Wait, wait, he’s almost at full draw, NOW, haul ass! Was a blast though getting him closer and closer.
in reply to: New to trad bowhunting! #20884Hey MT! Glad you’re here. We have good folks and I think you’ll enjoy. Lots of fun to ya! Ralph.
in reply to: Portraits of Remote Tribes #20420It’s a shame that the so called “modern” of societies have all through history attempted to change people who seem to be perfectly happy in their way of life. Often, in failing to do so, they exterminate. What a waste. That was good find Jim. Thank for sharing.
in reply to: What ya got goin? #20309I was out yesterday and saw does, and does, and does. I’m not against does at all but now I am chasing a buck. I wasn’t going to get up at 3 AM again this morning but I told myself last night if I wake at 3AM I’m going. Danged if I didn’t wake up at 3AM. You know how it is, any old excuse…….Anyway this morning I see one little spike buck being stupid and one doe in another draw being just as stupid. What the???? Where’s all the deer I saw yesterday???? I was oozing around trying to figure things out and whoosh. Damn wind, never blows here , about 45-50 mph. They knew what I didn’t. All the smart animals were already bushed up. So I ended that excursion. Monday again for me I guess. The 12 year old, I’m amazed how the football jocks chauffeur gets info in bits and pieces, has some kind of regional tournament game tomorrow 50 miles away and if they win, another game at the same place Sunday at 0815. They keep this up they may be playing the Broncos in the Superbowl. 5th and 6th graders be being pretty tough!! As far as archery, he shoots!!!
in reply to: Portraits of Remote Tribes #20250Be a sight to see Jim, once! 😆
in reply to: What ya got goin? #18031“As for the Zen and hippies… that is one pretty Zen-like commentary for your signature line, there! Ooommmmmmm” from another thread!
Um, electrician training uh? Well you’re gonna learn that Doc cain’t spell:D, it’s oooohhhhhmmmm.
Glad you have time to shoot.
I got out yesterday and the only place in the panhandle it chose to rain was the quadrant I was in. We need the rain but preferably not when I’m hunting. Didn’t get too wet…….
