in reply to: Signs of Spring? #54136

To those of you hopefully shoveling the last of your snow. This is not my idea of a “sign of spring”.

I’ve been grumbling about the dry but this is ridiculous. On the north side of my back fence.

I’ve lived here since 1976 and have never had this happen.

“with the 300 grain Tuffheads up front, the arrows will weigh in at around 500 grains.”

If you put a 300 gr. Tuffhead on an arrow and the resulting weight of the arrow is 500 gr. The arrow + insert can only weigh 200 gr. What arrow are you using with an insert installed that only weighs 200 grains?

My Gold Tips, 3555’s weigh 7.4 gr. per inch so a 29″ arrow would weigh 214.6 gr. without an insert.

I’m just curious about that lightweight of a shaft.

Red, just curious. What arrow, length, etc. are you using that with an insert weighs less than 200 gr.?

Spring has been flying by here in Amarillo about 35-60 mph the last 24 hours but the wind starting to settle now. Dust was bad last night. We did get a breezy and chilly 3D shoot in today though. Set up in the creek bed with nice hunting situation type shots. It was worth the trouble and the weather to be with friends.

I think I have really lost a bit of my mind this AM. The d..n wind has been blowing 35-60 mph since yesterday. That’ll make you lose lighters, knives and friends. I’m going to a 3D shoot and I’ll probably lose some (more) patience.

My wife’s word, which is not in the dictionary, the incessant wind makes me” crudgety”:D

                Glad your knife returned.

Actually, my old Case pocket knife. Hard to believe that something like that can still be on your mind from over 40 years ago.

I was cleaning fish on the far side of Bonham Reservoir, got through, went down the mountain to mom and dad’s place and realized my knife was gone. I bogeyed back up there and no knife. Dang.

I think I maybe? I’m just sharing this I found. Interesting but factual? I remember avidly reading Popular Science when I was a lad.

If that last post doesn’t work, it’s saying the beavers are eating up the willows that, by re-establishing the wolves and the wolves causing a decline in the number of elk either by eating them or running them off in fear, the elk would stop eating so much of.

So now we have too many beavers it seems.

“if people can’t hunt without disrespecting the animals, they have no moral right to hunt.”

Dave that statement moves me very much. So many people I once knew and even now I still know some, (I do not associate with them) had not or have no respect or feelings for the animals they kill. They respect only the “trophy”, the pats on the back from their buddies or the glory from the crowds.

Thank you for your wise way of using words and expressing your thoughts and feelings.

                                Thx.

Old? I have exactly one year and one month left before I’m 70. 🙂

A “Roo-Do” probably work well for some of our southern friends, eh Jim:wink:

Looks to be more fun than swimming with the crocs.
