Well, maybe that’s the answer make it your servant and don’t allow it to rule your life.

in reply to: What's with the phones? #41059Patrick,congratulations to your son and I hope it’s one of many, but I don’t understand why sending an image of the event has to be instant, may be I’m getting old but I want to be told of these moments and see the face of the victor.

in reply to: What's with the phones? #40556May be its a lack of character or confidence that means FB users are looking for approval in this instance. What happens when they are told they have the wrong broadheads?
Its a form of communication that I don’t care for I believe it to be corrosive and Ive seen the harm it can do to vulnerable people.
However, it is how my mother stays in touch with grand-kids and great-grand kids.

in reply to: After the Hunt #48413Hi Preston
Congratulations on a successful hunt and a very productive day.
Saw your post when it went up but could not put into words the satisfaction I feel from what you have demonstrated.
Preparing and storing meat or any harvested produce for later use especially sharing with family and friends is something opponents of hunting can never know.
It gives a connection to nature that only a hunter can know, butchering a game animal is an intimate experience feeling the movement in joints and seeing connective tissues move elevates it, small wonder that our ancestors revered these animals.
Memory of the hunt is revisited each time we open the freezer, smell the meat cooking and sit down to eat.
On the subject of aging I have a friend that bought a drinks chiller the type used at gas stations with the sliding glass front door, works well.

in reply to: GPS in trad bow. #22784I like to think that my map and compass skills are better than average and have never used a GPS, outside of the truck.
But I’m sure if we are honest we have all been turned around in the woods, where I am beginning to think they have a place is when you really are struggling to pinpoint a position possibly in forest or as a friend found out a couple of years ago in Colorado when he found his compass unreliable due to iron deposits.
Switch it on, find your position, plan route, switch off and move off.
Just the opinion of someone that doesn’t like to rely on batteries.

in reply to: Untamed – Online now #20998Congratulations on a superb film, I can’t imagine the amount of work and effort that has gone into the making of it through the seasons.
Looking forward to your next project, Mark.
Clay, I was flinging a few arrows with Chris Reade Wednesday lunchtime, looks like my order has moved down the priority list again….. one day Chris if you read this.
He makes a nice knife, I’ve seen these evolve over the last few years.
