How many restless nights until the season opens?
in reply to: Opinions – What would you guys do? #62019Going a little off topic and this is not directed at Adirondackman’s question.
As has been stated above most of us like to hunt with a known quantity, what we must not do is discount people who genuinely want to learn about the outdoors and hunting, in my humble view it’s the only way to preserve Traditional hunting practices for the future, not everyone has a family member or friend to teach them the ropes.Mark.

Hi Dave, I’m shure yer skoolin was more komprehensiv than mine, most folks was.
May the best you have ever seen be the worst you will ever see.
May the mouse never leave your grain store with a tear drop in its eye.
May you always stay hale and hearty until you are old enough to die.
May you still be as happy as I always wish you to be.Can’t say who wrote it I’ll have a look when I get home.
I’m afraid my earlier contribution may have been influenced by a generous supply of Bruichladdich, I have a weakness for Islay malts.
And yes I really like Cottonwood’s very individual quiver.
‘Life is, can be, a whole lot of fun’, let’s hope so as I for one intend to be around for a while yet.

The worlds unluckiest badger shot whilst trying to escape:D
Ah now read your post, a sporran quiver very nice, do you have some Scottish ancestory. Ideal for hunting haggis as the mist rolls gently down to the sea, the haunting sound of the pipes drifting thru the glen, porridge for breakfast and single malt for lunch:)

At least 2 means of fire lighting, I have a tobacco pouch containing a variety of tinder, cramp ball fungus, tyre innertube cut into strips, spare ferro rod and striker and some dry tinder in a zip lock bag in case things get very wet and a lighter.
Like Eidsvolling says know how to use your compass and understand topo maps and it then does not matter so much that the area you are in is short of visible landmarks.

in reply to: When The Compound Was Born… #44044All bows are machines applying a mechanical advantage.
I don’t have an archery background, used to be a gadget junkie and compound was the only way I was going to go and it got me into bowhunting.
Then I rediscovered hunting as opposed to killing and a light went on, it has changed the way I approach many things in life looking to simplify work, home my future, neither am I so impatient or angry with the world.

in reply to: Bummed out – a friend is giving up Stickbows #44022Well your Honour it was a justifiable stoning………HE GAVE UP TRADITIONAL ARCHERY………..cleared on all counts.
Are we to be judged by what we do or how we do it.
LimbLover, it may be that your friend needs to put some distance between himself and the commercial archery world before he finds his true path.
Mark.
