Nor I. I’m sticking with my 60# bows, but Steve Turay sure can…and does. A well done piece ((by member “jasonsamko”) about Steve and his bows, with pics of him shooting his 102# bow:

in reply to: Historic Examples of D/R Longbows #27115I wish I had something to contribute here, but I don’t. Great thread! 8)
in reply to: My Java Man Elkheart: The Four Year Wait Is Over #23908I definitely will…on both counts.
I thought this is very interesting:
My 66″ Northern Mist Whisper is slightly lighter than my 56″ Elkheart. The physical weight, that is. I don’t know how much either of them weigh. I used an improvised balance: a clothes hanger.

Right on Steve! This is the answer in a nut shell, and it drives me crazy to think that I didn’t think of it from this angle, even though it makes compete and simple sense. 😳
in reply to: Hope you ENJOY #23253Great pics! Best way to post videos, in my opinion, is to upload them to YouTube, and share here. Hope to see the video soon.
in reply to: My Java Man Elkheart: The Four Year Wait Is Over #23022I wish I could. I tweaked my shoulder a couple weeks ago, and have to take it easy. Don Thomas’ thread has made me very cautious!
in reply to: Arrow Weight & Paradox? #230198) I love thought experiments. I’m thinking that weight is either a non-factor or has very little to do with it. Otherwise, a similar spined wood shaft would oscillate much less than a carbon shaft.

You have excellent taste Smithammer. 😉
Steve Graf wrote: Looking at Patrick’s and SH’s arrows, I just can’t help but give advice where none has been asked…
What I see is that SH’s fletching is located about where it should be on the shaft. Patrick’s fletching is too close to the nock.
I agree with Steve 100%, but for a different reason. When I’m hunting, I have to be very careful as to not rub my fingers on the fletching while putting my fingers on the string, as it’s very noisy, and there’s not a lot of room for error. I was talking about this with my son just the other day. The feathers will definitely be further down the shaft on my next batch.
in reply to: My Java Man Elkheart: The Four Year Wait Is Over #22756After FOUR years of waiting, I finally brought the second bow home: Java Man Archery Elkheart. I just HAD to add it to this thread, and finally give it the closure it deserves. If not for the wait, the bow wouldn’t be THIS amazing, as he wouldn’t have had these footed veneers. Sometimes a bad situation has a silver lining. This is the silver lining:
I’ll post some more and/or better pics later. You’d think the four year wait would’ve taught me patience, but I’m about ready to throw my phone and this computer through a window right now. Instead…I’m going to go outside and shoot my new bow. 8):D

I have no idea what you’re talking about. 😆
in reply to: Cat Quiver #21833I have a Cat Quiver. I think it’s the Cat Quiver II. Funny thing is, for the life of me, I can’t recall what I don’t like about it. Nevertheless, I have tried it on numerous occasions and have gave up on it almost immediately thereafter. I think that’s why I keep going back to it. I keep forgetting why I don’t like it! 😆
I shot my buck this year in a fairly steady rain. By far and away the most important factor is shot placement. I’ve never avoided hunting during a rain. HOWEVER, I will restrict my shots more than normal. If you put the arrow where it’s suppose to go, you’re golden…rain or not.
in reply to: Let's See Your Fletching #21814in reply to: Amazing: My son's new Java Man Archery Helms Deep #20805I thought I had remembered you saying something about those silencers on some other thread, Dave. I searched but couldn’t find it.
They make a HUGE difference on that Helms Deep.
Speaking to Smithhammer’s point, regarding the name, Helms Deep; I had wondered where it comes from. I assume it’s from Lord of the Rings, but only because every time I’ve Googled “Helms Deep”, I get a bunch of references to the movie.

Was it around your neck? 😆
