“Yeah!?”
“SMEATON??!!”
“Yeah?!”
lol…lucky I’m not a shy person. It was definitely Bernie’s hat that gave yall away.
Yeah, that freaked me out a bit. When you yelled “Is your name Pat?”, I was thinking, OK, maybe it was someone I chatted with earlier that day. When you said my last name though: 😯 as I wouldn’t have thought anyone there would have have known/remembered my last name! 😆
in reply to: Season start date… #34286Our archery season beings on October 1st.

It tasted like chicken
in reply to: A visit to the Great Lakes Longbow Invitational #33532😯 There should be a disclaimer before someone views this thread:
“DANGER!!! Please make sure you have welders shield in place before proceeding!”
What can I say, I very, very rarely wear shorts.
in reply to: A visit to the Great Lakes Longbow Invitational #33494Although Nick recognized us because of CrookedStick’s hat, I’m sure that the flash of bright, white light (I usually refer to them as my legs), is what caught his attention (and distracted him, which may caused him to miss).
It was nice to FINALLY meet you guys in person!
Although the humidity was oppressive this morning, I finally redeemed myself and beat Tyler.
Tyler was there too, but he hung out at camp due to a sore wrist (the reason he didn’t make the photo).
Here’s our camp. Note the versatility of a longbow: 🙂

That’s mighty impressive. Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, “if looks could kill”.

Hank, you picked a strange place to ask that question.
in reply to: Stalk in these? #31159:lol::lol: I couldn’t help but laugh at the contrast between your avatar and the 5-fingered shoe. I was just imagining the Indian wearing those shoes and it struck me as funny. I know, i know…sometimes it’s best to keep my thoughts to myself, but I’m not good at taking my own advice either. 😳
I’ve not considered them, but I hunt in Michigan.
in reply to: getting my lady to shoot… #29327Yep, what Dave said. I was going to say, have her shoot up close, but don’t let on that it’s close. Have her shoot balloons, etc. Dont fuss too much on technique. It’s gotta be fun.
in reply to: Interview with Dave Peterson #29326You truly are inspiring Dave! I was thinking about doing a similar interview, but they all want me to pay them. Is that normal?:lol:
in reply to: Scent from walking through areas #28975I’ve always been very cautious, and especially after I had a lapse once (this was quite a few years ago) and had a four-point whitetail come walking along his trail, just about to hit my shooting lane when you’d swear he walked into an invisible wall. That invisible wall just so happened to be where I had crossed the trail to get to my tree stand earlier that morning.

Nice try, but you didn’t guess correctly. The prize would have been a brand new bow of your choice. BUT…if you guess wrong, MY prize is the same. I’ll let you know which bowyer to send the money to via PM. 😉
LL….Although we wanted to, we just didn’t have time to stay for the meal. They did graciously tease us with a nibble of the smoked turkey, and it was AWESOME! We’ll be going back next year…and will NOT be missing the meal next time!
in reply to: Elm Hall, MI Stick Bow Shoot #25040Hey, those pics look very familiar.
Here’s a couple more:Here’s the same sign with some hatless stranger posing near it:
Here, I’m taking a pic of Bernie, taking a pic of his camera and his ingenious arrow tripod, which took the pic above of him a I:
