Very cool find though! It’s not often that deer fatally shed their heads along with their antlers.

As a libertarian, so can I. His enthusiasm is great. His approach sucks, and is an embarassment.
My best friend is a teacher in the school district Nugent lived in, and in fact, he taught Nugent’s son for a while. His wife grew up as a neighbor. I will only say this: When my best friend and I were younger, Nugent was a hero of his. Not so much any more. Reasons aplenty.

in reply to: Where do you get your tradional supplies from #40625In addition to those already mentioned, I get some of mine from the guy just above me in this thread. 😀

That statement begs the question, how does a particular situation demand a longbow vs a recurve?
BTW, I read the article and was shocked and HORRIFIED to find that you’ve been shooting recurves! I immediately burned my copy of Longbows in the Far North. 😆
(It was a great article)in reply to: Truth … Or Consequences? Article #40605It’s in the Oct/Nov 2010 issue.
in reply to: Recurve or longbow your choice and why? #39703It was pure chance that I ended up starting my traditional archery journey with a longbow instead of a recurve. That’s what was recommended to me when I was in the hunt for a traditional bow. I will say that I did and still do prefer the lines of a longbow compared to a recurve. I don’t care for the huge riser on the typical recurve.

How does that apply? Are you saying that because noone’s perfect, noone should speak up when wrong is done?

Really?!
Talk about not being PC! 😉
I’ve not seen, but heard about it, which is why I’ve not seen it. I read Hunting the Hard Way. He’s a great archer, and I admire him as an archer. BUT, I don’t think much of his hunting ethic, and I don’t buy into the “It was a different time” point of view.in reply to: Nugent gets karma-lized! #38804coyote220 wrote: Hey the weather is really nice here in Indiana!!! This is an attempt to change direction…
Why? I think life is boring without maturely discussing and/or debating “controversial” subjects. But, that’s me. Personally, I wish People would speak their mind more often. I hate PC!
Oh, and Nugent’s an arrogant a$$.:P

in reply to: A visit to the Great Lakes Longbow Invitational #35666I must say, we sure are blessed with alot of traditional shoots here in Michigan. I REALLY want to go to the Superiorland shoot in Marquette next weekend, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. I love the UP, and if I never get to move out West, it’d be a most excellent consolation
prize.in reply to: A visit to the Great Lakes Longbow Invitational #35653Crookedstick wrote: I used my 16-yard pin and glanced the arrow off it’s back:D
I was thinking it was closer. More like 12.61935 yards (I like to mix my metric and English units). I might be off by a 100,000th though.

😆 I don’t recall the distance well enough to say.

Well, then I’m DEFINITELY shooting my bow! 😆
