MENTAL CLUTTER !It gets to most of us I suspect .

The stress of daily living can sometimes be overwhelming . But , having the privilege and freedom to walk the woods at any time of year is soothing to the person that has found the ability to let go of the WORLD and become consumed by the present surroundings .

There are times when I’m unable to do that . But , when I am able it is generally one of those engagements with nature that is to be anxiously written down in my journals .

I challenge you all! Write it down in detail . Each and every detail of the outing . The successful parts as well as the failures .

Stump shootin’ is one thing that brings satisfaction and confidence over the still target in the yard or range .

I shot one once ,,,,,,,,,ran into a feller at an archery shop/range . We talked bows and tackle for some time . Then he offered to let me shoot his WIDOW . It was a real pleasure . At that time I was shooting a Howatt Hunter . It was no slouch . Beautiful , and full of life it was . But , that Widow was sweet . I didn’t do as well as the feller that owned it , but , I didn’t do too bad . It was one of those ”NEVER FORGET IT ” experiences .

It took me years to get over that.

It’s been quite a pleasure reading all the posts , from scattered parts of the globe .

In reality , it is exciting to have been in the company , even though it is INTERNET, of such a number of archery and outdoor enthusiasist’s .

I enjoy the fine tooling and workmanship of vintage firearms,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,BUT A FINE RECURVE OR LONGBOW , WITH A PRACTICAL QUIVER ,FULL OF DELICATELY CRAFTED ARROWS IS LIKE A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN ,,,,YA WANNA EMBRACE ‘ER .

I once straightened a wing recurve the way barebow mentioned . Leather padded two 2×4’s

. Boards were the length of the riser . I put the bow between the boards in a vice . Using the bow’s own string , I pulled the limb in oposite direction and tied it off. Left it that way for a month . I took most of the twist out . It was realy twisted bad before I did this . Too severe to shoot for sure ! In the end it was a pretty good shooter .

I just checked Hoyt’s website ,,,,,,,,,,,,they don’t list any longbows ,,,,only recurves and compounds.

Typically it is 3 inches s

shorter . Best bet would be contact Hoyt.

                  Hello all,

Just joined yesterday . Have been reading a lot of the post and I see this is a good place to visit .

I live in southern Ohio with my wife Linda . Have been in love with the outdoors all my life . Grew up hunting , fishing and trapping . Played with guns all my life . Still like them too , but the most pleasure I get is with the bow . Been shooting recurves since early 80’s .

Turkey hunting is my main addiction .Spring or fall , I get the greatest thrill out of trickin’ a turkey with a call and good set up .Though I typically use a shotgun for turkey I will again this year try to arrow one with the Super Kodiak .

Gardening , gunsmiting ,making my own gear are also some things I enjoy , but would rather be roving some woodlot with the recurve.

I’m shooting full length 2216’s from my 64” , 45# Super Kodiak . Total weight is 688 grain . 250 grains on the front end .Perfect flight.

It ain’t the fastest arrow , but super quiet with plenty of horsepower on impact.
