in reply to: Fastest production recurve?? #7797
I’ve spent some time looking on the net,,,think it’s the DAS…
in reply to: Fastest production recurve?? #7698first to Alex, i got a kick outta seeing you are from Allentown, im from Bethlehem now living in Ky.. anyhow, thanks so far i should have said for a hunting set up!
in reply to: Deer sent and Human urin #40669let it go! out of the stand or wherever! Bagged enough deer to know they don’t mind it and yes it does work on scrapes!
in reply to: what quivers do you prefer? #40663for hunting; don’t care for hip quiver, GFA back quiver is great…but i still love a quiver on my bow..with that it HAS got to be QUIET. love the old Kwikee Quiver that snaps on the libs (not the working area)..it’s quiet and coooooolllll!..no hood either, no helmet on a bike, no hood over heads..
in reply to: Buying a Demo Bow Newbie Question #39334so what did you end up doing?
in reply to: this new format??? #43689no inconvenience! sorry, it was just a glitch. keep up the GREAT work there! ps- BEST SITE AND MAGAZINE EVER.
-thanks
in reply to: Right helical vs. Left helical #42523so say’s he.. i will have to say if you are getting perfect flight then “ok” but they make them that way for a reason and it is doing the work something else shoold be doing… think about it..the cock feather is hitting the riser section and you hit the spot you want.. you should bear shaft tune your bow, or cock feather out with spine, head weight, etc.. it seems to me somethings wrong that just happends to be working..i wouldnt put money on that set up. btw, this is very basic stuff…read gfa books and you will understand everything there is to know ….that you need to know….good luck, shoot straight and practice!!!!
in reply to: Black Widow broke today #42511Sir, shoot the super mag 48!!! forget that other bow. if you shoot 3 fingers under (you wont get pinch) and that bow should be easy to dial in… i have one and it’s second to none!!!!! btw, it’s also second to none out of a tree and bets are you hunt from a tree stand???
in reply to: HEAVY SPINE/ GREAT FLIGHT??? #30264yeah, im waiting to see if anyone else has input. I just screwed my magnus stingers in.. shot 3 arrows about a dozen shots ea. and they were dead on. But they didn’t all tighten to the exact same location, although close to horizontal (i haven’t heated up the incert and turned them)..yet they were perfect, i’d assume because of the shape of the head/quality (i do know the arrow was cut perfectly square, the noc is seated correctly and the head is straight) so i think im going to get some more to fly like these and call it “case closed” ..i will get around to a heavy arrow, focus on my FOC etc, but as im sure all will agree, even if im a tad light but the arrow flyes PERFECT that should be just fine and them some. I’d rather the lighter arrow fly straight and hit straight than a heavy arrow flying tail high or left or right just before impact in a deer’s side.
thanks for your imput Dave! it’s awesome you make time to give us your thoughts.
in reply to: HEAVY SPINE/ GREAT FLIGHT??? #30102hummmmmmmm…..i have been thinking about switching to carbon.. i have a growing pile of aluminum and it’s not fun to add to it.
One thing im not sure of, dealing with carbon is tuning it with the broadhead. I’ve been told you must heat a target head and then turn it with pliers, screw in your broadhead and ck the flight, continue doing this until you have proper flight. With aluminum, you just heat the area where the incert is and turn it a bit, wipe off the “black” that’s left from the lighter. I use Magnus Stingers 125 grthanks a lot guys
in reply to: Too old to hunt? #46224yea but dave, you also have a advantage of still being a MARINE. enough said.
in reply to: Wet wool smell #46223i have to agree with Morris… ever notice how every new “hi-tech” cloth is compared to wool? -i personally think a few layers of wool with a windbreaker over it is the way to go..cabelas offers one that is great and silent when a branch etc scrapes you
in reply to: Arrow quivers while hunting #45641i have them all, use them all… on my bow, great northern is the only way to go!
in reply to: Washing Clothes: Baking Soda? #44289i go to great lengths to de-scent myself,, i wash my clothes in scent free sportsman soap, line dry, spray again with primos silver, store my gear and clothes in plastic bags with hunters specialties scent wafers earth scent (i cant say enough about these wafers!!!) i dress outside of my truck and never wear my boots or hunting clothes in my truck… if the deer are down wind it’s a 50/50 if i get busted.. but i hunt hard and get my deer sooner or later.
i use to smoke in my stand lol, cant believe i did that and i did get lucky back in those days…when i quit doing that i got “lucky” way more often
recently got the Fred Bear DVD collection…watch Fred and his buddies sit by a campfire, then hunt in the same clothes!!! and we all know how strong a camp fire’s smoke is.. hard to even wash it out!! -they got their game.
-Just try your hardest to set up down wind no matter what you do or dont do!in reply to: Supper Kodiak #44046that grove is perfectly normal… shoot the heck outta that bow and love it, it will do you just fine.
