The line that got me interested in trying traditional archery again after 35 years of compound use:

“I looked down at the delicate bow in my hand and marveled once again that an animal of such size could be brought down by an instrument weighing little more than the fly rod that had provided the first dinner of the trip.” Longbows In the Far North – Don Thomas

I cannot help but recall that quote every time I head into the woods with my bow.

      Also:

“…Bob and Mary’s young black Lab Sonny ran ahead to make sure there were no gophers or jackrabbits in the way. If you don’t give a dog a specific job, he’ll improvise one for himself and it will invariably be fun. There’s a lesson there.” At the Grave of the Unknown Fisherman – John Gierach

Reminds me very much of my chocolate lab and best pal, Meadow, that I lost recently.

I used the Big Mike to take my first turkey this past fall. Plenty of room with my 62″ longbow. The Big Mike has windows that open lower than other Barronett models. Waited for the them to be on sale and picked up a second one.

My only other experience with blinds were Ameristep, but I do recommend the Big Mike. JM

Look at Loseit.com. Set up your profile (free) and follow the program. It tells you how many calories per day you can have to meet your set weekly weight loss goal and helps you track. You can have anything you want; but you stop at your daily calorie intake.

It really is retraining to eat proper portions and makes it possible to keep the weight off permanently. 62 pounds off in just under a year. Having tried a few different programs, tbis was the easiest and most successful for me. Oh, and it changes all your numbers to levels that your doctor will like. Good luck at whatever you try.

I appreciate tbe welcome messages. The snow machine comments are interesting, as mine recently went out of service for good. It occurred to me while out today with my daughter on our shoes that I am not going to miss snowmobiling. At all.

Very similar to knowing I would never miss compounds when I finally switched back to traditional. JM

My 10 year old trad shooting partner and I found a new hobby snowshoeing this winter. Cannot get enough of it.

I will not complain about snow until it is melting into my basement.
