Your stories remind me of Igor Ruhds (sp?) adventurous life. Salute!
Trout at first then in a couple weeks arctic char, once the rivers start moving.
in reply to: What ya got goin? #35335Things are finaly starting to thaw and i mean starting still freezes hard at night and gets really slushy during the day. I leave Satarday for my annual spring trip to the cabin saved some vacation days last year for this year so i will be out at the cabin for 5 straight weeks. This will be my longest trip on the tundra. Should be out there for prime bow fishing this spring. The geese are just starting to show up. I’ve seen 2 so far but about 10,000 will soon follow. Will do my best to take some pictures to share this time.

I know forrester shafts sells some but I am not in a place where I can afford them. Not saying they are over priced, I just have a young family and carbons are cheap and durable. If you know of any Sitka spruce that are long enough let me know. I love working on wood arrows.

Was a long winter we still have 3 months of it left and no their really isn’t much of a social life compared to the south most of the socializing is done during spring summer and fall (as short as they are) out on the land as we call it. But at last count between me and wife we have about 10 dozen arrows each ready for this season and i still have 70 or so cedar shafts to waiting to be completed so i fill the time. once spring comes there’s no dark so there’s lots of time to make up for it.

Alex, I’m a pinhead, at least that’s what my wife says. Not sure what she means really, but there is some small chance it has something to do with hat size. Not sure why you’d give up such a classy cap, but what kind of trade you have in mind? size?
David, I figured it wasn’t the bow for you. Thought I’d throw it out there anyway… Stick to one bow, that is the best path.
Lidz sells thats style online i have a couple made by Kangol there good hats

Not bad but it has a high water content so it shrinks a lot when you cook it.

April to mid or late may yes it is. Easier to find in the snow. Last spring after the snow melted I Went back to one of my Favorite roving spots It’s a nice long sandy point lots of Sik Sik and Fox. I found a half dozen lost arrows that where in deep snow a couple weeks before.
