Great. Look forward to it. I’ll keep checking in here as assume you’ll “announce” here, your FB page etc. Love to chat about it with the gang @ ETAR this summer ??

Seriously Clay. This looks unreal. I haven’t been on in awhile so you’ve probably answered this already but what is ETA to the masses, distribution etc?

As a hunter with a variety of medical issues/handicaps I have no issue if the chopper was used to get the hunter to an area to start from. I for one will go out of my way to avoid certain physically grueling climbs etc. This does NOT mean I forgo my ethics. I will take an atv, only on established, legally opened trails, to get me to my starting point and knock a few miles/days of hiking off the agenda. I’d rather use what physical abilities I have when I get up into the general hunting area than risk my hunt, and what could easily be my season, on an extra day or two of hiking just to say I “hiked there”. If I could I would. And I gotta believe there’s no way in hell any animal holding still for a longbow (or any bow for that matter) shot out of a chopper!

            Couldn’t agree more Don.

In 35 years of bow hunting, taking many many animals of varying species and size (raccoon to eland) and countless differing broadheads, I firmly believe that heads are similar to flies….fish the fly you have confidence in. You’ll fish it better, with better technique, confidently! If you are confident in your head I believe you’ll be more dialed in, pick smaller spots, take better, high percentage shots etc resulting in a better overall result.

            Happy Thanksgiving All!!!

Remarkable Clay. Truly inspiring piece. Thanks for giving voice to the overwhelming feeling in all of us.

Steve Graf wrote: Problem is, most times being lost isn’t innocent.

As a landowner myself, I have found several “lost” people with guns and dogs on my property. They have also happened to have a deer with them. I guess dragging a dead deer helps them find their way home.

I have found several “lost” people during turkey season sitting within 50 yards of my house. I guess sitting on the ground with a diaphram call in their mouth helps them find their way home.

I wish our system was different and that all land was free and open. But it isn’t. I really envy the public land situation out west and hope it can be maintained. But back here in the east, there is very little public land by comparison.

I bought my humble little farm so I could raise my own food and hunt deer in peace. Since I pay the property tax and maintain the land, I expect others that want to use it to have the decency to ask.

And so the bottom line is that the few innocent folks that truly get lost and just want to get back to their truck suffer for the majority of slob hunters that force landowners to have a bad attitude towards trespassers.

In NC they changed the law that the land had to be posted because dog hunters would say “Dogs can’t read signs” and then proceed to poach deer. Now no sign is needed. If you are caught with a gun on the land of another, you are guilty of poaching.

I don’t see anything wrong with GPS’s. They don’t make the hunt any easier. They don’t make the hike any easier. They have their advantages and their limitations, just like everything else.

As a Trad Brother who lives/hunts in the wonderful states of NY and NJ – and who has experienced each thing you said, more than once (I particularly appreciate the walks in in the pre-dawn darkness to find some slob sitting at the base of my tree stand cause it was too dark to climb….) I couldn’t agree with you more Steve.

I like to hunt from the ground (though I’ll go up in trees if conditions/spot dictates). Anyway I’m in pinch point between some big rock walls , field to one side, woods in front. Field is corn with lots of deer/bear various other critter depredation so kernels, 1/2 eaten cobs etc strewn all over the area where corn field meets wood line and my rock wall “pinchpoint”. Siting quietly one afternoon I was roused (awakened!? 😆 ) by crunch crunch crunch. As I’m listening I’m thinking, hmmmm that’s not deer footsteps. Straining to look out my openings I can’t see what it is but now plainly hear it. I stand up in blind slowly to peer over a high brush point and count ’em…one two three of the cutest young of the year Blackie Cubs rolling and crunching in the corn…after a minute goes by the smile leaves my face as I think to myself they wayyyy too little to be alone. Of course at that point one of the little guys notices me and decides of course he needs to go see what that big thing in the brushed out “cave” is. As all three are now brushing against my blind, one steps on a log I placed in front to peer in the window. I now think to myself mommy cannot be far. At that moment less than 10″ from me I hear a very definitive scratch/scrape on the fabric “door” behind me. Peering out the front again I count 1, 2, 3 Cubs and immediately think uh oh….that’s when the low guttural growls and woofing start. I know I can’t open the zipper as she’s standing right there scratching so I climb under the front of the blind trying to peer around all the while talking to my new best girlfriend. The little ones are now up a tree to my right and then momma decides to stand up and look down at me from the back side of the blind. I wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry as I debated the stopping power of my 55# Widow PCH on a charging pissed off momma bear at about 3.5′. I stood up and slowly backed out talking to her. And was more than a bit dismayed as she just started walking toward me, growling with the occasional jaw pop. She never came at me but kept pace with me for about 80-100 yards as I gingerly talked lovingly to her and kept backing out. When she thought the threat was removed she walked back to her babies, sat down at the base of the tree they were in and continued watching me all the way to my truck….

More importantly – beautiful case Steve! Your time is worth considerable $ as I’ve paid as much as 5x that for a case not as nice as yours!!! Well done Brother 😆

Gotta say I love my DoubleBull. Have a few of them throughout our camp. Never had issue seeing or shooting both blackies and whitetails but will say I shoot shorter bows (52-56″ KBX/PCH) as I learned my lesson when I blew shots TWICE in as many hunts on same beautiful 11pt when I put top limb into hub then, over compensating I guess, put bottom limb in lower up 10 days apart….needless to say never saw him again….??

My sons and I do brush them in pretty effectively as well…as for heat issue, been using little propane heater for years. Never been detected (at least that I know of) and it lets me sit comfortably, quietly and longer…

Absolutely love them! I use them pretty much exclusively after trying everything from BW provided spider silencers, bow hush, various puff balls, rubber bands etc etc. I have them on all my Widows, my Allegheny Mountain, both of my Fedoras as well. They are easy to install, easier to tune. I’ve never once worried about them moving on me nor have they, or picked up any debris…can’t say enough about them, plus I like the sort of ” minimalist ” look they have on the string… 8)
