I use an ameristep brick house and really like it. I got it on sale for $99.

We had a younger looking buck shy away from rattling. He kinda acted like he had gotten his butt kicked and didn’t want any more of that. I learned to rattle and call bucks just like you do ducks, only at their sides or tails. If they are coming at you shut up.

          Dave,

I rattled, grunted and doe “bleated” (sp?) at this buck. When I saw him he was leaving the field. He reappeared at the fence line directly in front of me (blue dot) and came across the field to within 19 paces of me. The bucks in Kansas really seemed to come to the call.

I meant to say thanks for the other posts. This buck is also my first to butcher myself. The jerky has been great so far. My wife is even ok with the euro mount in the living room.

I know it’s tough to get published and have decided to hold off for now. I just bought a new house and moved AND started a new job. I love to write and don’t mind the rejection….as a matter of fact I’d love to get a rejection letter from Trad Bowhunter. Here is a better pic. This was a great hunt. The bucks in Kansas really responded to the calling. We learned a ton on our first hunt in KS but have a ton more to learn. I’ll try to post an aerial pic of where I shot him.

Randy Long. You’ve never heard of him but he introduced me to bow hunting so he is my hero.

Thanks all. We are working on a felted hat with ear flaps and a micro fleece lining. I’ll take pictures when it’s done. We’re using brown/black/tan. Gotta make our own “camo” patttern. Thanks again.

I love my Chek Mate Hunter II but I’m a newbie so I have very little to compare to.

Thanks all! We’re looking to do even better next year! We’ve had some old family friends invite us to hunt on their 1200 acre Kansas farm! I want to shoot a lot of 3D this year!

Thanks! I’ll check these places out to see where they are in relation to my friends ranch. Is it an irritant that 21k permits were sold? Just asking..

PS: I’m not asking any one to tell me their secret spot ! We have friends that have property in north central kansas and I don’t know if this is good hunting country or not. Just trying to get a general idea. Thanks!

Thank you all. I was “worried” there would be a lack of opinions. Silly me! 😆

Where can I learn to make Kydex sheaths? Thanks!
