in reply to: What's Your Camp? #27886
My wife and I have a 31-foot travel trailer that stays at our property. With electric, propane, septic, and a well, it’s quite comfortable — like a cabin on wheels.
in reply to: Cold this morning #27517It was 41 degrees, windy, and pouring rain at our Wisconsin property this morning. I really can’t complain since I killed a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner.
in reply to: What's your broadhead and draw weight? #24104Roger,
If they hold up anything like the 125-grain Standards, you should have no concerns. I’ve put those through quite a bit of heavy whitetail bone (on the exit sides, as it should be) and I have yet to encounter anything in a deer that will damage them. To me, Bob and Jan at Ace are like Jack at Zwickey, if they put their name on it, the quality is excellent.
in reply to: 1st Snake Project (pics) #17501I’ll bet that would look great on a bow.
in reply to: What's your broadhead and draw weight? #14590My normal setup since 2004 has been a mid-50s recurve with 125-grain Ace Standards on arrows weighing 500 grains, give or take a couple grains. I’ve put them through everything from small game to deer, elk, one especially nasty boar hog, and a mature bull moose. I don’t think I’ve ever left one in an animal. Before switching to Ace heads I had similar results with Zwickey four-blades (both Eskimos and Deltas), various three-blade heads, and once with a four-blade Zephyr.
in reply to: Eagle Archery shaft length #14308According to Gold Tip’s web site, the Traditional 5575s are 32″ full length.
in reply to: Eagle Archery shaft length #14104The last time I bought shafts from them they were blowing out Beman ICS 340s with the discontinued Trebark camo for something like $3.00 each. That was about six years ago, and I still have a few dozen left. As far as ra w shaft length, I would check the manufacturer’s web site for specs. Which shafts in particular are you looking at?
in reply to: Split Fingers to 3 Under Converts #10788You will likely have to make a small nocking point adjustment, but that’s it. Honestly, the tillering difference is much ado over nothing.
in reply to: Pineywoods longbow doe #8391Congrats on a fine mature doe. It’s nice to put the first one of the year in the freezer.
in reply to: Favorite Arrow discontinued #8381The ICS Camo Hunters are being discontinued? They’re a great shaft.
