I have a 30″ draw and for years thought I had to shoot
64″ recurves and 66″ longbows. Last year I found out
bow design is more important than bow length. I am now shooting a 56″ Shrew Classic Hunter as good or better
than I’ve ever shot. I did change from split finger to
shooting 3-under but even that is becoming more comfortable
        than the old way.

I’ve hunted whitetails throughout much of Kansas and I don’t think any one county is better than another. There are more deer in the eastern third of the state but more hunting pressure also. The same cover that holds pheasants in the northern and western part of the state can produce some really nice bucks. I would recommend scouting out several areas right now while the rubs, scrapes and trails are still visible before spring green up.

There is definitely something in the Kansas breeze, a
soul stirring of sorts. My mind has been drifting along
streams in the flint hills all day. Time to sharpen
              broadheads for sure!

I just switched to an American Leathers Glove
and really like it alot. I used cordovan
tabs for years but now I don’t see myself using
                one again.
