in reply to: The Hammock Seat #30830
I have a new question on this seat. Assuming you are on a moderate to steep slope (most of the time around here), I would use it on the downhill side. But can you make it hang so the strap goes down at an angle allowing your feet to touch the ground? If it has to be level, some of our slopes are so steep the seat would be 3ft above ground on the downhill side and my stubby legs would be dangling.
in reply to: WOODSMANSHIP ON TV? #62416I used to watch Freds adventures on American Sportsman every Sunday and cherished every minute of it. He was welll before all the commercial sponsorship (he spossored himself) and retail driven hype. Fred HAD to get up close and personal cause you aren’t going to make a 70yd shot with a recurve.
Thats one reason I like Fred Eichler.
in reply to: WOODSMANSHIP ON TV? #61879I too, enjoy the Eastman show, but I have to admit some of his hunts seem a little canned as well. The on your own hunts seem for the most part to be guys that put in the work. My favorite, though not a bowhunter, is Steven Rinella’s, Meat Eater. He puts in the work, and sometime he scores, sometimes not. Every show is a hunt that he works hard to complete, and he eats what he hunts, even coyotes, as an experiment once.
When I do occasional channel surfing of the hunting channels, I am pretty disgusted at the vast majority of the shows on there. If it’s not their new super dooper whack em 3″ expanding broadhead, it’s always from a tree stand. I have shot deer in Ohio from stands, with no shame, but there is no where near the enjoyment I get from taking my deer from the ground. Oh, and I do not have a camera crew to pack my deer out. Just me and my 60 year old legs.
in reply to: Grip vs form #58216OK well I will have a look at the riser and see what I can do.
Thanks guys.
in reply to: Grip vs form #56853Now I would have thought just the opposite, interesting.
in reply to: The Hammock Seat #56124OK I watched the videos, I see now, makes better sense. Looks like a good setup to me.
in reply to: The Hammock Seat #56119If this is the site http://thehammockseat.com/forms/FanaticOutdoors/FanaticOutdoors.php I can see what the metal rod is for. I was wondering before. Does that rod ever get cozy with you, if you know what I mean? The pics on the web look like it comes up in a very uncomfortable spot.
in reply to: Re-tuning my arrows #55006Hopefully that does it for ya. I know it can get expensive real quick.
in reply to: Grip vs form #54537Jim
Maybe looking for something to blame beside me? 😀
Seriously, i have shot more accurately with other bows than this one and it got me to wondering.
I am not overly attached to this bow, and may try another, but cannot afford a quality bow, hence the willingness to change it.
As for time to release, I cannot shoot well at all using the “touch and go” method. So I do aim somewhat, not like with a sight, but more of a mental “feel”. Must be my feelings are off 😀
Fixed my typo’s. Stupid smart phone 😕
in reply to: Re-tuning my arrows #52872One other thing to consider, not sure about your funds, or availability, but lighter spined arrows might make it easier. Depending on cost and availability.
A lighter spine would allow using lighter points, unless you are trying to increase the FOC, but if these are target arrows, a high FOC isn’t really necessary.
in reply to: Material for arrow rest? #58845Thanks “mom” that is exactly what I was looking for. I remember that tip (now) and it will do just fine.
in reply to: Material for arrow rest? #55176This bow already has the hole there, thats why I’m pursuing this tye of rest. The shelf design pretty much precludes anything else, unfortunately.
I will check the Black Widow site, thanks.
If no luck there, I will post again, maybe the 22 trick will work.
in reply to: Material for arrow rest? #54448Does no one else remember those rests? The only way I can describe it is they were like how the bristles in a tooth brush are bundled together then put in rows. This rest would be like one of those bundles sticking out sideways just above the shelf.
in reply to: Adding weight just before kickoff #53449tailfeather wrote: Thanks for all the responses. I think it best just to keep the weight up front and forget about the tubes/rope. Getting down to crunch time and I don’t need to be fooling with anything else!
That’s what I was thinking!
in reply to: Backpack Seat #53443I know they make seat pads that you place on the ground for turkey hunting, but you mentioned you wanted a stool type.
There are also the tripod style seats that fold up to about 2″ diameter you might consider. The have no back to them, though, that would bother me.
