They said there was always ONE primary rule on roof team: NO SPITTING!
They said just spit was enough to slip and slide right off a slate roof!
With sun and no wind the slate is 20 to 40 deg hotter than air temp. Can’t tell you how many times I slipped on my own sweat puddle.
The Aussie is right on. While recovering from my rotator cups, the PT asked me to bring in my bow, and tried it themselves. Then worked up exercises to help me add about 20 lb to my draw weight. It worked. Now I can pull 55# and the 45# feels like a 35# used to. That is just what I wanted, you can’t get accuracy if you are working at it.
in reply to: How do you draw? #43942I don’t know, and if I think about it I suspect that it will end up like that time someone videotaped my fly casting, and I tried to “correct” my form. If I try to cast with “correct” form I loose distance and accuracy. I know I could do it “right” and it may make me better, but I may not have that much time left. Right now I’m satisfied with my fly casting, and archery. Good enough to have fun, and that is what it is all about. I’ll leave the work to the young guys, that have forever to perfect it.
in reply to: a new chapter #43931Most fun you can have with your clothes on and in public
IMHP That is a misquote. should be “The most fun you can have standing up.” (Think it was Ritz, or Gingrich). Although that may go over the heads of some on here.

Don’t feel bad Col, I had to stare at that forever to figure out what they were talking about, and didn’t comment because I wasn’t sure I knew.
Actually if the cock feather is toward the bow… it is called a mistake, and if your big brother sees it, he will laugh at you, and call you stupid. lol

I grew up in the Green Mts, and the maple syrup from there is better than in MA. If you ever go there you will note that there is no wallpaper in kitchens. Steam from boiling the sap takes it off in a couple hours. lol
BTW If youseall go to VT and have pancakes at McDonalds it is 100% pure maple syrup. Its the law. Ronald took the state to court, and ended up looking like a clown.
A more serious comment…
My real name is SHORT UGLY OLD MAN WITH A WHITE MUSTASH, WEARS A DIRTY OLD HAT…” Ironic that I am the guy in the back of a DR office trying to verify insurance coverage based on the patients nick-name.
It would help if we all had our location under our name. Since we cover such diverse climates it is needed as a frame of reference. And PLEASE no summer pics while I need snowshoes to fill the bird feeders.

WOW!!!! Never expected such a response!!! Only one suggested alternative (which I think is demeaning lol).
I guess Arwen’s choice shall remain. Murray’s post really clinched it. I’m wondering if Murray’s grandkids are “constant companions” as Arwen is? Did your grand kids come with a built in motor mouth?
Sitting here in bed with Audry, Sat morn with cartoons, and a 10 year old phone call in the background. When Audry saw the quip about grumpy/studley she said “Can’t change it.” A woman of few bit insightful words.
While I feel really grateful for the response (didn’t think youseall really paid me that much attention) I was also hoping for more comments on other names. On the other hand aside from half pint there weren’t any insults. You can do better!!!!
Now where is that link to dirty snow white??
in reply to: To sleep, perchance to … sleep? #41951I have 4″ memory foam on my mattress, and we love it. On it right now, and it is very comfy. It would work very well in a camper/car. Cost about $100 for queen size. The excess was big enough to cover Arwen’s twin bed.
For backpacking I use a closed cell foam pad (3/4 length) and about 1″ thick. Brand? It’s blue and I got it at Wallmart for about $10. NOT comfy, but survivable. Like closed cell foam. Water can’t get in, everything else seems to soak up water. OK, 3/4 length is down past my knees, and wouldn’t reach your waist.
in reply to: Spring fever #41923@#$%^&*() Obviously Dave, and R2 put those pics there just to make the cabin fever the rest of us are suffering from a little worse.
in reply to: Spring fever #41908Admirable sacrifice.
Saw a bunch of turkeys on the way to a breakfast at a maple sugar house last Sat. Must have been a dozen climbing up the 3′ snow bank.
