I FOUND THE TWANG!!!!
Apparently I am twisting the bow and/or string when drawing it. If I draw it and slowly let it down while I (or someone else) watches the tip the string is off the groves in the tips. As it nears the brace height it slips into the groove, and you have the twang. I’m thinking that I am canting the bow, but not canting the string. If I go out of my way to twist the bow, I can get rid of it, but it feels really unnatural. I need more practice time to figure it out, but I’m thinking it is ME. This wouldn’t show up in a long bow, or a recurve that didn’t have the pronounced groves for the string. Need to try changing how I hold my drawing hand.
So much for Audrey telling me I have perfect form.
Aside from the twang, I really love the Bear. Feels like it was made for me.

in reply to: Tuning stiffer spines than expected #63664For the record…. we are expecting a whopping 1/2 inch of snow tomorrow. 🙁
Yup, R2 they are a bit longer than they have to be, just in case I have to shorten them. Hoping to get the right spine by adjusting the head weight, want to get them FOC.
in reply to: Tuning stiffer spines than expected #47980Just because you haven’t grown UP, doesn’t mean you don’t grow old.
Just got my dozen carbon shafts, with field tip test kit, and weight washers. Going to cut them to length this afternoon, and bare shaft tune them when it stops raining. Yes I said raining, looks like no snow this year, R2 got our snow. 😥
in reply to: let me show you my home made wool jacket #41751Think I met the guy wearing it at a Grateful Dead concert in the ’70s.

in reply to: …AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! #24480Me too!! Just ordered a dozen graphite shafts, field point test kit, brass inserts, weight washers, etc… Also went to Cabala’s and bought insulated/waterproof/invisible/quiet bib pants and coat with my Christmas bonus. May not keep me warm, or help me get a deer next year, but I look pretty (men’s sizes were too big, had to get woman’s), Going to shorten the legs this afternoon.

COLD is below zero (before wind chill factor).
in reply to: ArrowMaster Side Quiver A+++ #17128That would be called a stone in my neighborhood….
We have stone walls build out of bigger stones than that. Boulder is bigger than a car.
in reply to: WE WISH YOU A MERRY……. #17049Do they have snowshoes for horses??
in reply to: Open stance or conventional ? #51428Need to practice any and all stances. The deer will appear when you are in your least preferred stance… Like crawling under a barbed wire fence. 😈
We LOVE your quote. 😀
