in reply to: New longbow! #23601
No kidding, that is one good looking bow! How long did it take for you to make it, in man hours…?
in reply to: How many bows do you have? #27829I have owned one of my fiberglass bows since 1963.
in reply to: Shooting left-age old question #27826I appreciate that info. Today, I got a message from a guy at 3 Rivers, he told me to quit using the Weather Rest, shoot off the shelf.
in reply to: How many bows do you have? #269624 Fiber glass recurves (20-40#)
2 Bear Recurves
2 PSE compounds
1 Horton Crossbow
Plans from Binghams to make my own longbow.
Going to order plans for a recurve.
in reply to: Shooting left-age old question #26959No, the release is completely silent, the only real noise is when the arrow hits the target. I read an arrow chart wrong and ordered these…..Someone at 3Rivers said that they would work if I used heavier field points, this would pull them right.
These shot fine off of my 65# recurve. But it is a brute to pull back….now that I am a whisker away from being 60.
I will get a box of lesser spined arrows to try out.
Yes, I am drawing 27.9999 inches. The arrows do not fish tail or porpoise in flight. Not that I saw any way. I need my granddaughter shooting buddy to watch while I shoot to see if this is occurring.
Thanks for writing me back.
in reply to: Where do you get your wood? #49591Hardwood, Inc.
in reply to: Bear Grizzly #49585Also, I need to have opinions about shooting off the shelf or using a Weather Rest. I have used the Weather Rest in the past on an old Bear Hunter Take Down, with great results, but it is a 65#er and a brute to shoot at my age.
in reply to: Shooting to left, consistently… #49501Lots to work on, thanks for all the info. 😀
in reply to: Shooting to left, consistently… #48623Good news, I also appreciate the grouping info as well. I have been shooting since 1963, but at various times, not consistent in my timeline. I had recently purchased the bow to get back to roots….shoulder surgery was successful and no longer have to depend on crossbow with which to hunt. What spine would be more appropriate.
I cant to about 15-20 degrees from dead center. At almost horizontal, ( just experimenting) grouping corrected to the right. Sooooo, my actual aim might be way off as well. 45# does not make me grip the bow like a vise. More practice tomorrow.
:?:What would be a good carbon spine?
in reply to: Ben Pearson Bows-1960s #60385I have added the photo of the bow I want to duplicate.
in reply to: First day of bow season… #45179October 15th is right around the corner. I have to get out into the woods, get some exercise and find some sign. I also am looking to arrow my first feral swine this season. Supposedly, the area is full of porkers.
in reply to: Working out to get in shape. #45178One thing I love about the Lifeline system, is that if you drop it, it doesn’t hurt. The rubber core pieces come in all weights, so using them doesn’t cause as much pain as steel or iron weights. All you need is the device and a good door. Academy Sports sells them and you can get them on-line too.:)
in reply to: 35-pound longbow proves just enough… #29519Good thing you took some pictures, now this trophy will live on long after it is consumed.
