in reply to: traditional recurve bow sights #60653
Does anyone here use any other kinds of sights with success…for hunting? I just turned 60 and not sure if I am getting more cross-eyed or what, it may have something to do with just getting older.
in reply to: Martin Archery #33846Thank you!
in reply to: PSE Longbow? #33582Actually, these HAVE answered my question. Thanks!!!
in reply to: recommendations for a recurve #32841I bought an excellent Bear Kodiak on the “auction” website. It’s 55# @28″, in almost perfect condition. Price including shipping was slightly over $200. I also have a 45# Ben Pearson, also from the auction site. It’s fiberglass and I love practicing with it.
I know there are some horror stories out there, but I have had great luck in buying and selling……. my 65# monster Bear Hunter Take-Down bow.
in reply to: I have to sit down to shoot… #32822I am not trying to hijack this thread, but that’s a terrific point!!!!
in reply to: I have to sit down to shoot… #32746I apologize, I meant to write that I was zeroing in on my target, therefore looking past my “bow.” OR maybe I am just cockeyed. You’re not an oddball.
in reply to: PSE Longbow? #32588Does that go for the Bear Montana as well?
in reply to: traditional recurve bow sights #32577Yes, check with what the above writer linked to 3Rivers sights.
in reply to: "Elevated" rest.. #32576When I was looking at the Coyote the adviser told me he would use a New Archery Quicktune, since the Coyote shelf is so far from center. I bought a used Kodiak instead.
in reply to: I have to sit down to shoot… #32570Hold your fist out to the left as if you are holding your bow. How many fists do you see with both eyes open, two correct? I am the same way and I prefer to shoot sitting down or on my knees….I am too fat to shoot with one leg out and one under me….so I have to use my knees on heels for a long hike. Just keep practicing and let muscle memory take over. Depending on circumstances, I shoot with only one eye open.
in reply to: 1980s Fred Bear Take Down Limbs #46205The more I think about this, the more I think I am going to sell this bow. I need to clean some glue residue from having camo tape applied to it for several years.
in reply to: 1980s Fred Bear Take Down Limbs #46188I appreciate this. My bow does not have the brackets on the limbs as they have for newer bows. It has one bolt on each limb to attach to the riser. I will check these bowyers out. Please see attachment to view the type of limbs I have.

in reply to: New longbow! #23619Sorry, I missed that part.
in reply to: Newbie looking for first longbow #23611Regarding versatility, I don’t shoot the recurve vertically , I have practiced for many year canting a good bit….practice sitting down, as in a ground blind, Asian style, on my knees, squating on the back of my legs….any weird position for which hunting presents.
I am too doggoned fat to use a tree stand so I hunt from the ground too.
in reply to: Newbie looking for first longbow #23603I was lucky in that I found a Bear Kodiak on Ebay, in 55# and excellent condition. Including shipping it was about $225.00. I am in love with this thing and it makes me wish I had gotten 55# instead of the 65# monster that I did buy in 1982. Never thought about growing older. I am now looking for a perfect 40-45# Bear Bow, if the wife will let me.
I have purchased plans to build a longbow from Bingham Projects.
