Do your arrows have plastic vanes or feathers?

Chad- Thank you (and Robin) for the tutorial! I think it answers most of my questions, and I should be able to figure out the rest. As for calling me “Fatty”, don’t worry, I’m not easily offended. I’m not sensitive about my weight or I’d have chosen a different screen name. 8) And, believe me, in my line of work (I’m a correctional security officer) I’ve been called much worse just for doing my job. Thanks again & hopefully I’ll figure out a way to post a pic once I’ve finally finished the project.

I’m also curious if any other tradbow members were there?

But we all had a great time. My girlfriend & her 2 girls only got to stay 1 night & left right after the kids got their bows. I will be better prepared next year & will probably join up so I can build a bow! Would have liked to have met you too. I’m sure ya saw us around. I was the fat guy with a Indiana Jones style hat and 1-4 girls walking around with me.:D

We didn’t come the first day partly because of the rain, partly because of Obama being in cushing that day (I figured it would probably make it tough to pass through town). We had to be ferry-ed to our campsite because my Jeep isn’t 4WD.

Aero, just wanted to say thanks again for this post. My daughter & I had a fantastic time at o-jam! Met some cool people, learned a few things I needed to know & spent way too much (not enough?) money. And best of all, before we even left my daughter asked, “can we go again next year? ” Awesome!

Eidsvolling- Thank you very much for the offer. I don’t really think it’s the translation that’s the problem as there’s only 1 illustration about suggested dimensions of the finished handle, I’m thinking that they’re just too vague for a beginner like myself. I will check out the link though. Again, thanks!

Dave- How did you go about fixing your handles to the blades in your previous projects? This one came with a brass button thing that doesn’t have any threads or anything (nor does the blade) and the holes aren’t big enough for the butt of the blade to fit in. So I dunno if I’m supposed to grind the blade part to fit or what? How did you do yours?

The kit I got was the “Harding” which is the 3 lam stainless. Steve – the dryad website has good explanation of why the triple lamination is done & why it works so well. I’d put up the link, but I don’t know how. 😉 the site is dryadbows.com.

I bought it from the good folks at dryad bows. The instructions are straight from helle and are a direct English translation of the Norwegian instructions.

I carry a .357 ruger blackhawk. Mostly for hogs (I hear tell they’re mean), but when I’m huntin in a new area I’ve, unfortunately, found that there’s a need to carry for protection from dope heads. I’ve had too many close calls where I might’ve needed one & didn’t have one with me. I intend to not let it happen again.

Woo-hoo! I’m SO glad to find out about this event! Since I’ve become a toxophilite I’ve not found much going on in OK for us traditional guys. In fact, this year is the first annual “trashy trad shoot” at trosper archery club in OKC. It looks like fun too. (March 3rd & 4th, trosperarchery.com for those interested) I’m definitely going to hafta see if I can get some time off for OJAM though! Thanks you SO much for the post!

Thanks for the clarification, sir. It’s still cool to see the differences of people’s experiences. And, so far, the only difference I can tell with the wing is that the right wing feathers tend to shred my bow hand when I shoot my recurve, since the shelf is so close to that hand.

That’s kinda funny that the left wing is the industry standard. I recently had to pay the local bow shop extra to get some arrows fletched left wing because he said that I’m the first to have asked for them in over a year! He’s set up to do right wing & that’s where all of his business is. That’s actually why I ended up getting a jig & left clamp myself, even more recently!

Beautiful bow! It’s truly stunning & looks as though it’s a real shooter for ya! I know that the bow is the focus, but what kind of quiver is that? I’m thinking of getting a similar one & would like to know the brand, how you like it, dislikes, etc.
