Excellent job Clay I just finished your book. You put the first arrow right in the bullseye!!!!!!!!!!! I look forward to your future writing. I did recognize a couple of the chapters from other places. And as with all good writing it was enjoyable to read them again and gain a new incite.:D

in reply to: Reply To: No Elkheart?!?!? #55203Dave when your By line was not there this last issue I was hoping that you just took an extra issue off. I pity the poor devil that has to try and FILL THOSE BOOTS. I always looks forward to getting here to see what hornets nest you have found to kick.
in reply to: Anything Positive @ This Winter? #53480Cross country skiing this year has been great!!!! We now have enough snow to get the snowshoes out and enjoy the woods with no ATV’s and no crowds. I love winter because it thins the herd around here. Most of them hudle around the TV in the ice house and tell there wives they are fishing. They have been lead to believe by the media that you well freeze to death in 20 minutes in temperatures below zero. Peace and quiet I Love it.:D
in reply to: Well said! #50716I believe she had the same response about X bows also.:D
Mike is correct, I have the mukluks he referred to they are fantastic. Just like wearing moccasins and super warm. I also have the Neos for work with the studded soles. They are much noisier than the mukluks they also feel heavier but that may be the steel toe work boots that I wear inside them.
in reply to: Happy BD Dr. Ed! #45113Happy Birthday Doc!!! Have yourself a Dram or two of Scotland’s finest. I am having one in your honor.:D
in reply to: Latest Issue of TBM #40489“Thanks for pointing me to the back issues. I just ordered two back issues for now. More to come later. Great salesmanship!”
You will not be disappointed Dave, I have every issue printed saved. I am looking forward to my retirement so I can read them all over again. I do not know how you can make 1 issue last more than a day. Those guys must be able to lick there Tootsie Pop’s all the way to the end also.:D
in reply to: Great Coues Hunts #28469Tomorrows predicted high in Minneapolis is -17 air temp. Wind chill -40 thats what we call a Bit Nippy. You can keep that 41 degree stuff it wrecks our cross country ski trails.:D
in reply to: Sixth Sense #28458It’s the vibes man. I am always amazed when I watch the nature shows on Africa. The plains animals all know when the lion is hungry and when he is full. They always keep 1 eye on the lion but they seem to know when he is seriously hunting or just window shopping.
in reply to: Economist article #28452The NRA is just a mouth piece for those that want to sell off all public lands to private interests. I knew they put the full court press to get a crossbow season in WI. The first step they took was to make it legal for hunters over 65 to use Xbows a couple years ago. The reason being that it is to hard to draw a 60 lb bow. I believe the minimum legal draw weight is 30 lbs. If you can not draw and hold 30 lbs with a 65% let off (12 lbs) then maybe it is time to hang it up. Ultimately the goal is for the billionaires to extract as much money as possible before they close the seasons and sell the land to the highest bidder.
The hiding part is easy it is the shooting part that gets difficult with blinds.
The concept looks great, until you have to poke your head and bow over the top to shoot. Then it looks like you would be a “Jack in the box”. I also would be little hesitant be sitting in it with a rutting bull seeing a equal sized rival. It could turn into rodeo time.
in reply to: You might be a traditional bowhunter if … #26465Careful R2 Mom might be listening. 😆
in reply to: Just a thought (on technology)… #26409This is the slippery slope that hunting has gone done. G&F departments wanting to sell more license, lets legalize crossbows. Retailers we need a new product to sell season, lets sell a better scouting tool drones with T.V. camera.
