in reply to: Horse Bows #51133

I have been shooting with my bows for five years now, and I have shot both longbow and recurve pretty well, so hopefully a horsebow works for me. Thanks for the info.

          Singletrack43,

If I were you I would get some Easton arrows. I have XX75. What are you planning on hunting for? If it is deer then 125 grain should work fine. I use Zwickey Black Diamond 2-blade broadheads, they are 115 grains.

Should I use a flu-flu arrow or will my regular arrows work?

Where are you going to go? Silver Fox Outfitters in Alberta,Canada is a good place to go. Check out their website at http://www.silverfoxoutfitters.com I have gone moose, whitetail, elk, and mule deer hunting with them and it is a blast8). They have a really good success rate and the guides are great. I will probably be going moose hunting hunting there again this fall.

Hey I’m 15 and I have the patience for trad bows:lol:. All though you are right about us future hunters. All my hunting friends, (and my brother:cry:) have compounds and sights. Luckily my ten year old sister loves shooting her traditional bow and wood arrows.

I got started 5 years ago when my grandpa gave me an old fred bear recurve. I shot at and missed a few deer that year but I was hooked on archery. I now have that old fred bear recurve, a PSE coyote recurve, and a bearpaw longbow. I shoot ceadar arrows with turkey fletching(all homemade:D). Right now I am teaching my sister and little couisin all about archery( at least the little bit, that I know:lol:). I like to hunt small game, big game, and everything in between.

Yes there is hickory around here. What should I look for in the wood if I want to make a bow out of it?

Thanks for the advice:D. I used my birthday money and got some good shafts. Hopefully they work.

Personally I like the zwickey black diamond. They shoot great, and are pretty darn sharp. Mine are 115 grain on 5/16″ shafts.:D
