in reply to: Another Noisy Recurve #62604
UPDATE: I lengthened the felt on my limbs to reach further toward the center of the bow. I looked closer at what I had going to realize that there was a possibility that I had some slap going on. I also took my 4 cat whiskers and barely cut any material off. They are evenly spaced from the tips. I wasn’t able to fine tune last night due to lack of light, but the bow is definitely quieter. My wife even said she couldn’t hear it in the house anymore. Need to find the sweet spot though. Have some vibration in the bow itself. I’ve thought about getting another bow (long bow to be specific), but the season starts in 9 days. OH… and my arrow weights are averaging about 640 grains with 25% FOC.
in reply to: Glove grooves #58051Thank you for that, Mr. Petersen and Dr. Ashby. I have been having trouble wrapping my thought process around what he said because it would have made my shooting inconsistant because of the different finger placement every time. It was definitely hard for me to make sense of. I actually stopped shooting until I heard/read different sources on the matter just in case I created a horrible habit that needed fixed.
in reply to: New to bow hunting… entirely #55935Thank you for the insight. I know the area I will be hunting very well and am always going out into the woods to get away from all the people around here. In time it’s just going to be a matter of practice and experience. God willing I will have many hunting seasons ahead of me. After all, I’m only 25.
in reply to: New to bow hunting… entirely #55746Stalking and Still-Hunting by G Fred Asbell
Instictive Shooting By G Fred Asbell
The Traditional Bowhunter’s Handbook by TJ Conrads
Beginner’s Guide to Traditional Archery by Brian Sorrels
I have actually purchased 2 of those books. I should receive them soon. Both of Asbell’s books I haven’t seen yet, but I will definitely look them up. I also purchased a book called Become The Arrow by Bryan Ferguson and Glenn Helgeland as well as Instinctive Archery Insights by Jay Kidwell.
