I’ve seen a few of Lar’s videos and find them fascinating and entertaining. I read the geekdad review and I suppose that anyone who touts themselve as an expert is asking for a challenge. While I’m not an expert I’d guess geekdad could also endure a few corrections, as well as challenges on his assumptions. I do know that I have to smile when I watch Lars shoot. It’s fun. Dwc

in reply to: The Endless Loop #17878

When I dug my Browning Wasp out several years ago, it had an endless loop string. A friend suggested a Flemish twist to give me more or easier control over brace height. I went with a twist and that’s all I know. Can you guys tell me the real world difference or supposed difference? Thanks! dwc

I’m not exactly a techy or techie or however you spell it, but try hitting this link. It might ask you to sign in, but it goes right to the tutorials. I bet you got this far, but give it a shot. So far everything seems to open up now. dwc

            Mike,

We all know that violence and technology don’t mix. Most of us know that from experience!

I had a problem at the start, but have been able to opening the reading material and watch a couple of short videos.

Bugs. Good stuff so far, as expected. best, dwc

Finished Sand County over the weekend. I’ve read parts of it a few times, but this was the first time straight through. Great stuff. Looking forward to the class starting tomorrow. Best to all. Dwc

                  Mike,

Thanks for the link. Incredible story. I want to know more. It’s an interesting perspective that makes her excellent at what she does. I would never have guessed. Thanks again.

Clay, JMSmithy said it well. Thanks, dwc

I tried the shopping bag route and ended up with a mess. Packed tightly, it stops the arrow quite well, but eventually ended up pushing out the back side. The heavy duty plastic and tarp material doesn’t form to the arrow so much and does not get pushed through. If you have a way to work with the shopping bags that keeps them neat, let me know. Thanks, d

This is a great idea. Clay did a similar instruction on this topic on back country college called how to hang stuff in bear country. I used this to teach my Cub Scout den how to raise things using a mechanical advantage for their engineering badge. Neat stuff. Thanks. Dwc

I’ve used, with good success, everything from old tarps, billboard tarp material, door mats, and carpet remnants. I stuff the stuff in feed bags, which cost 75 cents, or grass seed bags for smaller targets. This sort of thing stops a 635 grain arrow with 28% foc out of a 46 lb longbow. My broadhead target is stacked newspaper in a duct taped cardboard box. Works great. Gotta be cheap. Have fun. Dwc

When we visited a guy named Bill Fredricks, who lived on the edge or in the middle of a state forest, they turned me loose to hunt turkeys with Bill’s 32 rimfire. I waded around the forest and the beaver dams in the deep snow with that little rifle having the time of my life. Never saw a thing but it didn’t matter a bit. Dwc
