Hi Robin, progress!! A Couple things, I’m sure you’re working on. I lost the personal image aspect in the profile section. Some places I see you can send a personal message and some places you cannot. That was below the member’s name, as is on Steve’s above, but not on others.
Happy New Year! Let’s celebrate the advances and dedicated work by Robin and the others that keep this thing breathing! best, dwc

in reply to: Longbow or Recurve #27828Good post Grumpy, i might add that sometimes you don’t do anything wrong and you still don’t see deer or you see them at 25 yards and need them inside of 15. But then, lots of times we get a chance to mess it up! I suppose that’s why it feels so good when the stars line up. Dwc
in reply to: Finally got back out #25532Well said, Marc. I love hiking but have rarely seen much other than views and echos of my own thoughts. Hunting, standing still or moving so slowly let’s a new layer become revealed. It’s ironic that something we were once a natural part of is something we now have to return to. I feel blessed to be a hunter and to have access to the forest and opportunity to be there and listen. Dwc

in reply to: Orange Day in PA #19784Grumpy, that’s an excellent rant. This morning I watched three doe come over the hill about 60 yards to my left. Man, what a difference between deer today and two weeks ago. These ladies were very wary. I heard two shots a little later from the direction they went. A little while later two doe came down the hill about 60 yards to my right and shortly after there was a shot from the direction they went. After that the landowners dogs came down the hill so I called him and went to help get the dogs back before they ran into some old school hunter. That’s when I called it a season. I’m looking forward to the winter season now. Flintlock and archery only. Cold temps cut out some of the riff-raff. I see less deer in the later season, but it’s a nice time in the woods. Best, dwc
in reply to: The Election Buck #16563That’s a beautiful time. Time well spent, with family and earning to fund the family. All good. The deer will grow bigger waiting. best to ya, dwc

in reply to: Longbow or Recurve #61466Whatever you pick, enjoy it and learn to use it inside and out before you pick up anything different. A friend fills all his tags annually with a 41 lb longbow and has recently killed a huge buck with it. In PA 35lb is the minimum. That leaves some room for safety, so you gotta figure an even lighter bow would do the job. It’s more about us doing the job than the gear. Practice, set-up, sharpening, all the stuff you’ll be doing the rest of the year while waiting for deer season to open. All good, all fun. Enjoy! dwc
in reply to: My First Traditional Harvest!!! #61413That’s dynamite! Congratulations on your success and enjoy those steaks! All the best, dwc
