Yeah, I like yellow, except when the birch leaves fall. I thought I had parabolic, but I got birch leaf pattern. dwc
in reply to: What ya got goin'? 2 #125149Nice use of the poetry. It’s all around us. It’s good to find a place in the woods where we can hide from it now and then. peace, dwc
in reply to: What ya got goin'? 2 #125148Howdy folks,
For some mystery of the universe I’ve not been able to log in to this site. I’m sitting at the garage getting tires put on a car and behold, I have access.
R2, love that article on the bears. None of us would have guessed! Seeing lots of deer, lots of turkeys, lots of eagles. Watched a couple of mergansers flapping off the water through the morning mist on the creek early this morning. Shooting quite a bit and sometimes pretty well. It’s a great time to be in the woods. Tomorrow will be a good morning to hide eggs in the dark.
All the best to you all. peace, david
in reply to: Wood arrows #121105Hi Peter, I’m also shooting carbons and want to open up the wood can of worms myself sometime, perhaps over the summer. The best thing I can think of is to pick the broadhead you want to use, buy some target points of the same weight then buy a test shaft kit from whomever you want to buy your arrows/shafts from. Do some testing a see what works for you. It’s fun figuring it out, even if you pull some hair out in the meantime. Have fun, dwc
in reply to: Backpacks and Bino's #113526Steve, neat idea on the bino straps. That’s a nice pike, too! dwc
in reply to: What ya got goin'? 2 #113525I spent a few minutes watching the Lancaster Archery Classic Barebow Recurve finals on youtube this morning. That’s a different world than I live in for sure, but really neat to see these guys shooting so well. Cool stuff. dwc
in reply to: 25th Annual Whittingham Traditional Rendezvous #112497From what I understand, farming anything other than turnips, especially anything that eats and drinks, is quite a commitment. I know folks with cows and you gotta be there, especially dairy. I like to make plans, but there’s usually a question mark next to them in the calendar. When work comes, I gotta take it. And when the kids need something, I want to be there. Won’t be long and they’ll be long gone. Gonna drink it in every chance. best, dwc
in reply to: Now hear this #112069Steve, R2’s pretty cocky, right? I’d love to hear his duck recipe. I bet all he gets is deer yelling, DUCK!!
(laugh out loud emoji…) dwc
in reply to: Now hear this #111439I’ve had Peking Duck and it was very good. Should be as they price it pretty special. I’ve also heard that doing a duck on the rotisserie on the grill is good. The fat drips down and makes good smoke. Maybe if you hunt them with your bow you won’t have to worry as much about eating them! (snickering emoji….) dwc
in reply to: Good, Bad, and Ugly #110774Steve, you go all out! I appreciate your dedication. dwc
in reply to: Now hear this #110773It’s tough when a cartoon duck has better form than I do…
Steve, you have a good duck recipe? Some years ago I bought a new to me, used, shotgun so I could shoot steel shot and hunt ducks. Then I never went. Sounds like fun though. dwc
Grumps, you’re right. Only the big ones are shaggy. Once you learn it you’ll always be able to pick them out. It’s difficult for me to describe without standing next to it. Best thing I can think of is B) look it up on the interweb or better, A) ask someone from your county environmental center to show you one. They’ll show you the silhouette and how the branches and twig are positioned. Then you’ll see them all over the place. Dwc
in reply to: Good, Bad, and Ugly #110220Good stuff Grumpy! Keep it coming. Dwc
in reply to: What ya got goin'? 2 #110172Duncan, that’s a beautiful place for walkin’ & thinkin’. A fellow is blessed to have such a place. dwc
