        Turtle,
Had to have a lobe of lung removed due to cancer. It was not an agressive type which was good that it did not spread to other organs. I think I posted elsewhwere that it has been 10 years but I think I mis-counted and it is actually 9 years this year. Hiking up and down hills is tougher but I just have to take a slower pace these days, but that fits right in with bow hunting.

The morels start appearing here in early April. Found 13 once in less than 100 yards along the crick that goes through my property. That was on April 4th 2001. Why do I remember that? The day before life changing surgery, or maybe I should say life saving. 😀

Wife said she saw 6 gobblers (probably jakes) fly into our yard on Monday while I was away.

I have tanned several deer hides using alum, but have been unwilling to do all the work to soften it. How do you work the hide without working yourself to death?

I made a pair of mocs once. Planned on using them for camp shoes. First night I put my feet up to the fire after walking around in the wet. Woops!!! the mocs shrank up like spandex and turned to rock. I barely got them off. Never wore em again.

I wonder if the alum increased the hides natural tendency to draw up when heat is applied. Alum is known for it’s tendency to make things draw up a bit.

Turkey season starts here in a couple of weeks. It has been warm here and the dogwoods are about to bloom. Redbuds just bloomed this week. I bet a turkey gobbled somewhere this morning!
I got to go scout my spot this weekend. I’ve been shooting some in the sitting position. I think if a bird gets under 20 yards it will be in a dangerous position. Of course shooting is not so much the problem. It’s drawing without being detected that will be the trick.
Time to dust off the old slate!

Reminds me of some mocs I made in the Boy Scouts. They were a kit. I wore them everywhere even while hunting birds and rats with my Shakespeare recurve and quiver. My buddy would say,”why don’t you just get some boots?”

Like Dave, I’ve been shod with LL Bean boots for longer than I care to remember. Best moccasin substitute made on earth.

My favorite bow fishing rig is a Bear Grizzly 50# recurve.

One day, catholics think they dont need to eat meat on fridays during lent? I know cause I am catholic:lol:, sort of. Well my family is catholic, I am just christian, but mom cooks, so no meat. Works out okay when we eat seafood instead, but when she tries that experimental vegitarian stuff:oops:, drives me crazy:roll: never did like lent!

One of my old bowhunting pals would go vegitarian during the season claiming it made him less alarming to the deer. That carnivores gave off a more detectible odor to the deer.

I use Dura-Gloss liquid polish. Can be found at Auto parts stores. I use it on my laminated bows and my fishing rods. Makes them look like new. I don’t think it will help a bow with a flat finish though. For my self bows I just clean with a damp cloth and buff lightly with a cotton rag. I don’t want them to shine too much.
The Dura-Gloss seems to help all but the deepest scratches on my fiberglass bows. It also seems to clean as it shines as any dirt will show up on the rag. Just apply a very thin coat and buff with a clean cotton cloth.

Steve it is definitely that time of year, the best time to hang a hawg before she goes on the bed. 13 lbs is an awesome fish.
I went to the club this afternoon and did not catch a thing. But there is always tomorrow.

Maybe it is in honor of the Lenten season when many Christians give up something until Easter. Last year I gave up red meat. It was tough. I’ve already started cutting back on cheese so I guess it’s cheese this year.

You may be right. The site also gave three locations, one in Korea, one in China, and one in the USA. Not clear whether these are manufacturing or distribution outlets. There is not too much detail about the company online.

Amen Brother! I’ll be stopping by our club on my way home too for some target shooting or some fishing.

                                  The Samick website indicates Korea.
I have the Volcano recurve and it shoots great! As far as the quality, time will tell, but right out of the box I was surprised at the workmanship.
