I highly recommend the books of Tom Browne Jr. In his youth Tom was schooled by an apache elder named stalking wolf in the spiritual connectedness to all things living as well as learning to live as the apache Indians did They are great reads and are very inspiring!

Nice pic.. I admire how you present the bow with the barn wood background. Taking a good photo requires knowledge of perspective and design. Nice job 😀

Hunting season’s not open here just yet, but never let it be said my Kegan longbow didn’t provide food for her new caretaker.

Specs: Hickory selfbow from a tree cut by Kegan himself; 35#@28″; somewhere around 64″(just long enough to reach the best pear on the tree if I stretched as far as we could). Oh yeah, and she shoots great too!

Only photographed one of my ‘harvested’ trophies tonight because I couldn’t resist eating the rest as they fell into my hands. Here’s my trophy along with my new bow–ya gotta admit, that’s one good looking pear!:

in reply to: Wood Arrows???? #27380

My hunting partner Joe H., makes and sells POC (portorford cedar) hunting arrows for an incredible deal on ebay. His ebay title is crester123. He went into business sept 08 and he makes very well made arrows at a price you won’t find anywhere else $75/doz including field points & shipping. He is mentored by Lamont Grainger of the footed shaft in Rochester MN. Joe has taught me how to make my own arrows, and using POC- well it’s a wonderful material and rewarding experience. Check him out. email address joe.howland@gmail.com

            Hi, doe stomp here,

All of your suggestions make great sense and I have been watching some videos on youtube- it’s hard to find good videos though where the ego of the hunter doesn’t get in the way. As well, I would be humbly proud to take the old girl matriarch if the creator above so granted it. I would consider the old doe to indeed be a trophy, and I can’t tell you all how many times I have been busted for a small mistake. they are the most difficult creatures to hunt. As for hydration, I will have to drink more water the morning when I wake- I hate having to pee in the woods as (being an old girl myself) involves taking off layers of clothing first. annoying. There is much to be learned by the matriarch doe- i respect her greatly. thanks.
