        you did not say if it is a all wood or a laminate longbow, or flemish twist or endless loop string.

        generally, laminate bows will delaminate with obvious, dramatic results.

        i would suspect your sting as the culprit. get a proper length string and try again. older B-50 string sometimes will stretch/break . the older B-50 was notorious for stretch.

          get the extra limbs…

          at 40# (as an example) you are very rarely ‘underbowed’. you may have to get another set of arrows but the lower poundage is much easier to shoot and makes it easier to perfect your form.
