As usual can’t rely on any of the news orgs anymore. I guess we are just hearing the sensational oddities or the cheaper poorly designed brands, having battery issues . I thought I would wait a bit before getting into the EV mkt – till they got more of the bugs worked out..
The old hunting truck 2011 Toyota Tacoma is getting a little tired, but at 170, 000 miles still has another 100 thousand to go….might even be able to pick up a good used EV by then…. haha
Let us know how you like the new Tesla after you have hunted with it a bit. It’s one of the models that interests me..

in reply to: Whatch Got Going 2022 #161096I had a jeep Cherokee back in the 80s that was a great hunting vehicle.. just strapped elk racks on the top…
With people buying more electric vehicles. We should have a lot less traffic noise, which I heartily welcome
I understand the replacement of their batteries is quite expensive though…

Yes , I would do the same — go in before dark and sit where the main game travel corridors cross and let all those other hunters push the deer to you… just might work, it has for me in the past..

in reply to: Western Colorado Deer #160517Hi Chris
I haven’t hunted Co in some years now, so I don’t have any current ( good ) advice. Maybe one of the other members who lives/ hunts there will pass some good word.

Sounds like you are off to good start …
You found a bow you like and starting the traditional journey. Working on form is a never ending process, but it’s ok to have fun too. Shoot on a 3d / field course and / or go stumping, all good practices. If you can get some more experienced trad archers to shoot with you , will also be helpful , as they can observe your shooting and possibly give you helpful tips/ advise?.
A good reference is TJ Conrad’s.. The Traditional Bowhunters Handbook. I carry mine in my hunting Warbag..

in reply to: Public Land Pressures #160311Ditto what Richard said, same here in NM, when the forest is not closed due to threat of fire…
Gotta trek in and/ or hit the lesser known areas. I also believe the internet impacted the lesser known areas by broadcasting/ passing around where the “secret ” places are if you will.
All the “new” technology is having an impact. The G&F here is proposing a rule to exclude scopes on muzzeloaders. Harvest Statistics are showing a much higher ” take” with the new muzzeloaders and the latest Compounds. Especially Elk ….
Gotta hunt smarter…

Hi Pat
Welcome to the forum ! Looks like you are on the right track, and getting good advice from your local shop ….
It’s great you can try some different bows ( and weights) . As you realize best to start with lighter weight 35 – 40 and work on techniques and form .
Glad to have you with us and keep us posted on your trad journey…..

That extra plywood ought to hold em. I like the pressed haybales for my own use, smaller and tighter ( hold up better).
Peace with the neighbors is always a good policy. I have a little more room ( impact area ) on my range , and my neighbors have always been tolerant of my set up…
I am not that accurate but with my luck I would cut the string on a regular basis or hit the wire ..haha
Excellent tgt shed and nice looking
