I am glad it worked out well. I always thought Alt’s argument made sense. Habitat is a lot of it {IMHO} and he said the range as it stood, at the time couldnt carry the load. Good Luck on your hunt this year.
DOC -GT-
I know [hunt] three ranches in Texas — one in the Hill Country supplement feeds/water and it will be OK. Another in the Davis Mtns is terribly dry, wells are working though. Oddly enuff the Mesquite there is loaded with beans [ which is allowing all critters to hold]! but the oaks are having a real bad time. Not as many Mule Deer around as in the past. Although the Javelina are doing OK — Tough lil peccerhogs!
The third one on the Dry Devil River, is holding – barely.

I killed my first wt Buck with a bow in PA [Carlisle]. I havn’t hunted there in a long time but always interested in what goes on.
Yes, His Name is Gary Alt [ very innovative blk bear researcher ]Who took on the “Deer/ Habitat problem in PA”
Read about it in “Deer Wars” etc quite the Donneybrook. Did the Management Plan work in your estimation, or not?Long term Drought in AZ / NM so herds have been down for some time, finally getting some late summer monsoon rains. This should help out for this yr anyway. The Coues always seem to manage better than the Mule deer.

I would go with the Tuffheads – available/easy to sharpen/ lifetime Guarantee -similiar to the Grizzly which have a great record — fly very well for me — customer support second to none. IMHO – Not cheap, but good things rarely are.

That Avatar looks like a “Lean Mean Hunting Machine” !Ready for the Fall Elk Hunt !
We are all that way in our Minds/Hearts as long as we don’t look too long in the Mirror—- except for the young studs of course-
I use the same “Black Wal Mart” target backed [ 8″ away ] by poster board. As long as I do not get closer than 15 yards the BHs just barely get into the board — I can then pull them out far enuff to twist them[bh] off and pull the headless shaft out of the foam —
I shoot a lot of Fpts into the other Plastic type tgts,{ mounted next to each other} then fire a triplet of bhs into the foam to finish.Scout

Can Do. I Didn’t draw Elk, But will be Hunting deer in 2 states for sure [ Mule Deer – Whitetails]. I will be shooting the following arrow I just finished setting up — Gold tip 55/75, 100gr brass insert/ 100gr steel adapter/225 Tuffhead — 672gr arrow out of a 58lb Longbow [ Centaur]w/ 28% efoc [ if I followed the Info correctly]5″ helical flech—Flies – “Straight as the Road to H–l” right where the bow looks —
Isn’t There a form or Instructions on said report for you?
ScoutPs – I would just Like to Say doing Business with Joe Furlong [ Tuffhead] is a Pleasure, and anyone of the members needing his services will be very Satisfied!
in reply to: 2 blade broadhead orientation #44947I am Glad I said I like Vertical!{ whoo that was lucky} Not too many of us will ever shoot as well as Mr Hill! – haha – but then Byron Fergusons book [ shows him shooting a horizontal BH] and he shoots pretty good too — oops– but later in his book he talks about mounting the BH vertical so it can act as a Clicker!? See first sentence —
Starting to look Like Ford vs Chevrolet — haha
Scoutin reply to: Thanks again 3 Rivers, they are very pretty! #44754Thanks – I would love to see them –

Accuracy is enabled by Consistency. It would seem, if one is consistent in the formation of the arrow and how they shoot it from their bow, as you do – your ability to hit is greatly enhanced IMHO –I also make sure the fletch doesn’t touch in my Bow Quiver [ hopefully cut down on inadvertant noise ]
ScoutPs – aesthetically I prefer the BH Vertical- in line with the bow. –

Grey/blue feathers ? sounds like a Mason/Dixon Line Combo – haha -. Cool idea, very novel – I do not believe I have seen that set of colors before on an arrow —
